New to Nightvision

It is common for night vision devices to not appear to be magnified compared to a daytime scope. The image quality makes the picture distorted. This happens in many NV units. The lenses are that of a 4 times magnification, but thru the intensifier tube do not always appear to be 4x due to this image distortion..

Thanks I have one more question though upon receiving my new Mk390 I have noticed that it seems far from being 4x maybe more like 2x. I could not tell hardly any difference in a view with the naked eye verses looking through the scope other than a clearer brighter version. Is this normal? I did like how clear the picture and the cross-hair are though, seems like a good deal other than weight just think its a little bulky.

The 390 is a good choice. The resolution will be the same on all of the units. Magnification will not let you see farther. It intensifies the grain of the picture. 200 yards on a small animal is not very realistic. 100 yards is pushing it. Night vision is made to see in the dark, not necessarily to see FAR in the dark.

Which one of the Aries Model would best suit my application. I want to perform "farm security" at maybe 200 yds. The scope will be put on a M&P15 T. I think the Mk 390 is my best bet because 2.5 power seems a little weak for 150 to 200 yds and 5 power seems a little strong for the closer stuff like 25 to 50 yds on say a coyote or a raccoon and the 4 power MK390 seemed to be a happy medium. My budget at this point is 600 bucks so I'm just looking for advice on which model of the three is the best, most versatile. Any advice for someone new to night vision devices would be greatly appreciated. Also is there any major differences in the clarity of the three models or is it mainly the zoom power.
