Thats a tough one. Is it worth spending the extra money to get into a gen 2 scope for hunting? I think so, absolutely. Trade off is that you will be spending quite a bit more. A nice gen 2 scope to look at is the [url=http://www.opticsplanet.com/atn-night-arrow4-2-cgt-4x-night-vision-weapon-sights.html]Night Arrow[/url]. Is a gen 2 worth the money, yes, but its is quite a bit more. Can the MK390 work in those conditions, yes, but really at 75 yards +/-. A gen 2 unit will get you out to 150-175 yards.

Ok, I have another question. Will my boyfriend be able to use the ATN Paladin 390 in all types of settings (like woods, open fields, etc)to hunt coyotes and such? Or should I try to spend more money and get different scope? I guess what I'm worried about is spending the money and him not being able to really use it. Would you recommend me spending more money and getting a better scope for the job that the scope will be used for? Also, is there anything that I need to buy with the scope like extras?

The 410 is a little high magnification and I usually don't recommend it unless someone needs that extra magnification. The 390 is usually the best seller for us, its a great unit for the price and is ideal.

Okay, I'm back. I was browsing your store and I came across the ATN 410...is that any better? Or should I stick with the Paladin 390? Whatever I get will definitely be used for coyotes...and maybe hogs.

The good news is that since you know your spending limit you only have a few choices, and the two that you mentioned are what I would recommend. He will be able to shoot at a bit over 100 yards with decent ambient light. It can't be installed on a really high powered rifle, with the .308 Winchester cartridge being on the high side due to eye relief. That is the distance between his eye and the end of the night vision scope. He has to be sufficiently enough away to prevent the scope from hitting him during recoil. The [url=http://www.opticsplanet.com/atnarmkpalni.html]ATN Paladin 390[/url] has a bit more magnification than the [url=http://www.opticsplanet.com/atn-mk350-gen1-riflescope.html]350[/url] and may be a slightly better choice for his application. Second and third generation scopes are many times more expensive. He can use the 390 very efficiently for what he plans on doing. What a great Christmas gift! Nice job!

I am planning on getting my boyfriend a nv scope to mount on a rifle for Christmas. The only problem is that I don't know which one to get. I do have a spending limit of $700 or less. I've been looking at different websites and reviews.
