Yes, and yes. Yes to spend a bit more and get the gen 3 version, and yes to getting a dedicated night vision scope, but that precludes you from using different guns. In my experience, if you take off a sighted-in optic and place it on another gun that you have to remove the optics from, you end up with guns that are never sighted in and you just have a mess. If you really need to use different guns, the PS22 is absolutely the way to go. If you can get by with having one dedicated night vision riflescope on a gun of your choice, I would highly recommend it. Sight it in with a particular load and leave it alone and rely on it always without question about a correct zero or proper mounting position. Gen 3 units intensify light better, but also have less bloom when encountering bright lights. Again, though, in answer to your first question about best bang for the buck, the standard gen 2 is the one to get. If you will be using a dedicated riflescope and your shots won't be much over a hundred yards you can get by with a gen one product, deal with the poorer resolution and light intensification and spend the money you'll save on ammo! Good luck!

Thanks for the reply, Steven. The price difference between the low-end and H0 high end is huge (almost double). If I end up going that route, would I be better off paying just a little more and going for the Gen3 version?

Would I be better off getting a dedicated night rifle/scope?

Thanks!

You have it right with the ATN PS22, especially if you want to attach it to a variety of optics. All you'll need is the proper adapters to fit the outside diameter of each scope. The standard gen two plus is probably the best bang for the money. The CO version is the Commercial Grade tube, and the HO is the High Performance Tube. If you can get by with the lesser resolution for shots well under two hundred yards you can save a lot of money. Performance costs. If you have the money, you'll certainly see a large difference in brightness and resolution with the more expensive grades.

Best NV scope for me? Need advice...

I have an issue with coyotes getting into my pastures and animals. I'm looking for a NV scope that I can use on my Tikka 308, as well on my wife's Savage 243 and the Ruger 10/22. I figure the 308 will place the largest demands on the scope.

I hear good things about the ATN PS22, especially since it doesn't require me to change out/remove my daytime scopes (and re-sight them every time I change them out), and it should work well with the various kinds of mounts on these different rifles.

Any thoughts/experience with this NV scope? Which version is best bang for the buck?

Any alternatives that you would recommend instead?

Thanks,
- Dave
