I am currently looking at purchasing a night vision system for paintball and hog/predator hunting. For use during hunting, there is no isssue; however, my concern arises when considering the application to the sport of paintball. What would be the best way to wear or mount the NV monocular to the mask? Will the head mount system fit underneath a paintball mask with little or no modification? Or, is a helmet with its own mounting system recommended? My mask is an Empire E-Vents.
http://www.pbreview.com/products/reviews/4080/ This system has a detachable visor and brow gaurd which (I'm pretty sure) will not hold the weight of the monocular and I never wear the two. For those who do use NV for this sport, how does the mask affect the usability of the device or is the eye relief too great due to the mask being in the way?
My price range is about $2500 to $3000 for the entire package. This covers the monocular package, weapon, head and/or helmet mount system, and helmet if need be. The answers I receive to the above concerns will determine what system and accessories I purchase. Currently, I am looking at the OPMOD PVS-14 Gen 3 system with an additional Summit PVS quick connect rail mount adapter.
If you have tackled this problem before, details would be much appreciated. Additional recommendations are welcome and thanks in advance for your help.
