Hi,

It really depends on what you are mounting it on. For a .22 or other small caliber rifle, either will work fine. For a shotgun or other high recoil firearm, I would suggest the Burris. For an AR-15 flat top, I would absolutely recommend the Burris. The Nikon cannot be mounted high enough without a riser block, while the Burris in an Extra High ring will be the perfect height. The dot is adjustable for both windage and elevation, and you align it with the hit point of the bullet.

Which is better the Burris 300205 XTS or the nikon monarch ? And why?
Also, how do they work? Do you align the dot with the front sight or is it place the red dot on target and shoot?
