Kathy,

Thank you for your interest in www.opticsplanet.com
The first thing you should do is visit our professional advice section, http://www.opticsplanet.com/info/telescopes/, there you will find some useful information on telescopes further helping you in finding something for the child.
When you are done with that here are a few nice and inexpensive telescopes you can look at. The Tasco 900x60mm Galaxsee Refractor Telescope, http://www.opticsplanet.com/tasco-900x60-galaxsee.html, and the not as powerful Bushnell 470x60mm Voyagerâ„¢ Zoom Refractor Telescope, http://www.opticsplanet.com/bushnell-47 ... yager.html.

I want to buy a telescope for a young boy (9) years old. I want a fairly inexpensive one, but good quality, and worth looking through. Can you give me any advice on what to buy?

Thank You, Kathy Reese
