Strange to have an eyepiece on a PVS-14 that can't be switched from left to right eye or removed. It may have been altered. I would look a bit closer to confirm you can't remove the eyepiece. All others that I know of may be replaced.

AN/PVS-14 Camcorder adapter

Hi,
I am new to this board and would appreciate some input from those more familiar with PVS-14 than myself. I recently purchased a older PVS-14 off ebay (tag says warranty expired '05), and would like to attach it to my camcorder. Anyway, apparently it has a type of eyecup that is epoxied to the steel ring which is attached to the night vision by a c-pin. From what I understand the newer type PVS-14 have a eyecup which is held in place by a threaded piece which screws down on it. The commercially available adapters I see all seem to be for this new type whereby the eyecup can be removed leaving behind a female threaded region which the adapter can be attached. However, for my unit, I have no idea how to remove the eyecup or attach some type of camera adapter. I would appreciate any input from someone familiar with the PVS-14's. My goal is to be able to film though my night vision using a Sony camera with a 37mm female thread coming off my camera (which I can easily step up to 46 mm which is what the commercially available adapter needs). Thank you for very much for your assistance.

Sincerely,

Mike
