What Are Progressive Lenses?
Progressive addition lenses (also called "no-line bifocals, progressive additive lens (PAL), varifocal lenses or just progressives for short) correct vision for two or three different distances without the visible segment lines seen in bifocal lenses or trifocal lenses. Unlike bi-focal lenses that have one clearly visible segment for near distance and one segment for driving distance; progressive prescription lenses offer
a continuous, gradual change in prescription sunglasses strength from the lower (reading correction)
to the upper (distance correction) portion of the sun glass rx lens.
Progressive eyeglass lenses in prescription sun glasses provide correction
for all distances whether you look up to see a road sign in
the far distance, look ahead to view your car's dashboard, computer monitor, or aircraft's instrument panel in
the intermediate zone, or look down to read a book or newspaper.
Progressive addition lenses installed into our prescription sunglasses frames are one of the most sophisticated solutions for presbyopia, the inability of people to focus on near objects. There is a variety of options available to meet your specific progressive lens needs, including different lens materials, upgrades, tints and coatings. Progressive lenses provide excellent results for most
patients. Cosmetically sunglasses with progressive lenses look "younger" since they have no line, and most
importantly, the vision correction is more natural for the sunglass wearer.
Progressive Lenses vs Bifocal Lenses
Progressive eyeglasses or sunglasses (sometimes called
progressive varifocal lenses) are actually preferred to bi focal lenses or trifocals lenses because high-quality progressive eyeglass lenses provide the most natural correction and are the most attractive to
wearer and because they avoid the "image jump" experienced in lined bifocals or tri-focals
when eyes move from one distance zone to another.

Adaptation to Prescription Progressive Sunglasses
Normally a quick adaptation period anywhere from minutes to a few days is required
when you get your first pair of prescription eye glasses that
are fitted with rx progressive lenses. Some people with strong prescriptions do take a bit longer to adapt to the
prescription progressive lenses. In the event you still have problems adjusting to your
progressive sun glasses within 90 days, we will credit the original Rx in full,
provided that a pair of single vision lenses are
ordered from us in its place. These lenses must be of the same
prescription, lens upgrade and frame model as the original progressive lens order. Please
note that all prescription sunglasses are custom made for your specific prescription, and we cannot issue refunds on custom made Rx Sunglasses and eyeglasses.
Segment Height in Progressive Eyeglass Prescriptions
It is very important that your optometrist or optician takes correct measurements - the Segment Height and your Distance and Near Pupil Distance (PD). If the lower part of your prescription eyewear, the reading segment, is placed too low, you will have to bend your neck
backwards when reading. The frame should be correctly aligned on your face, especially when multifocals and progresive lenses are prescribed. When the Seg. Height measurement is taken, it requires the
patient or eyeglass customer to be present wearing the frame. If you need the progressive eyeglasses or sunglasses frame you can always have a look at our trial program.
Prescription Sunglasses Trial Program
We understand that prescriptions sunglases might
be a difficult item to purchase without trying them on. Since custom
made prescription glasses and prescription goggles are not
returnable, it might be a good idea to try on the frame (eyeglasses frame with Demo lenses or plano sunglasses) first, then
send them back to have the prescription made know that the frame is
comfortable and fits and looks good on your face! Having the frame
you like during eye doctor's exam is especially important when you want
to order a pair of RX sunglasses
with progressives lenses and need to have the exact frame in order
for your optometrist or optician to take
correct measurements of Segment Height that is required for all
progressive and bifocal rx lens prescriptions. Our unique patent-pending
Prescription Sunglasses Trial Program is designed to give
you a piece of mind when you order a pair of brand name designer
prescription eyeglasses from our online store.
We list a limited amount of most popular sunglasses in our trial program. If the frame you are looking for is not available in our trial program, please contact our customer service and we will send you this eyewear for a trial. Please see this page for more information about our unique designer glasses trial offer.
