I have used this product for several golf seasons and will soon purchase another. Although it is great for measuring to large targets like the tops of bunkers, mounds and trees, it is not good for the critical measurement to the flag stick. It is frustratingly difficult to get a reading on a flag unless the wind is blowing so the flag out so it is a larger target. If it is hanging limp, you had better keep up with the players in front of you so you can get a reading on the guy tending the flag, or you will have to measure to the ground for an estimate. But if the green surface is elevated slightly, the area around the hole cannot be seen so you have no good target to measure too. For the same price, buy a rangefinder with either pinseeker or first target priority technology which will display the distance to the flag even if you get readings from the more distant background. I also own the Sonocaddie gps which has free downloads but have found the mappings to be inaccurate by as much as 15 yards. I don't know about other gps units but that 15 yards has put the hole location off the green sometimes. How bad is that. You can't beat a good rangefinder for accuracy except in situations where you are measuring to a green or fairway which is over a hill or around a dogleg and you can't see your target.
