Blade-Tech Training Barrel

by Legacy Reviewer, Verified Owner from United States, CA Written on September 4, 2012
The training barrel replaces the actual barrel of the pistol for training purposes. Inert, solid plastic cannot chamber a round and therefore cannot discharge a round.

By utilizing the training barrel, it is safer for present/re-holster practice, safer for dry practice and overall safer practice of presentation from holster, acquiring sight picture, sight alignment, using proper grip, isometric tension, breath control, then p-r-e-s-s the trigger for a surprise break. Reset and practice some more.

The operative word here is "safer". It is a good product for the price point.

A laser that would indicate shot placement while practicing the above drill would be nice, but it becomes a different product with a higher price.
Pros: Durable, functions as intended
Cons: none...

Ok product, not sure I need it

by Legacy Reviewer, Verified Owner from United States, WI Written on July 6, 2011
The product works as advertised. It replaces the barrel and allows the gun to cycle manually. The yellow is bright so there is obvious indication that the gun is not capable of shooting. In some venues this may be more valuable than in others. For example, if you are familiarizing children with handguns, this is a good solution.
For my handgun training classes, I like my empty bore indicators better because they slip in and out easily. I do loading/unloading in the classroom with snap caps so this product requires me to replace the barrel before we do the load/unload. When I am doing only demonstrations (no hand-on exercises) and shoot/no shoot scenarios with video this product works fine, but again, so do empty bore indicators. I like to pass the handguns around if there is no hands-on component to the training; the product is ideal for that so I will keep a few around.
A warning, the XD version does not fit the XD sub-compact.
Pros: Fits well, safe, obvious that it is installed, gun works normally
Cons: Not as easy as installing a clear bore indicator...

Good concept

by Legacy Reviewer, Verified Owner from United States, WA Written on December 18, 2009
It does not lock up correctly, and keeps the slide almost 1/4" out of battery. It also somehow caught up on the guid rod, and broke a chunk off the back end of the guid rod when I tried to remove the slide. It is a good concept, but needs a little more refining.
Pros: Very easy to install, will not chamber ammo
Cons: Just doesn't fit right...
