I bought this swivel stud mount about a month ago to secure a light to my rifle, and it works flawlessly!
I bought both this swivel stud mount and the Phoebus barrel gun mount to be used in combination with my pocket sized 18650 flash light (same diameter as many CR123 lights). I wasn't sure as to which mount was better and decided to buy both (the Phoebus is junk).
This swivel stud mount attaches to my ruger 10/22 carbine AND heavy barreled rifle very securely and i have no fear of anything falling off (the Phoebus will not securely attach my flashlight to the carbine, and won't fit over a heavy barrel).
Because the swivel stud mount is plastic i don't worry about it scratching my barrels. (the Phoebus mount is a coated metal and if it attached securely enough for me to use it i would worry about minor metal on metal contact.
Because it is held together with a simple thumb stud i am able to attach and de-attach my flashlight very easily allowing me to keep my light in ...

Excellent clamp for a flashlight. Not made to clamp onto an extended magazine. Overall, easy setup and may work for some shotguns. Just a little too small for my Mossberg 12g.
Fills its intended purpose very well

This also makes an excellent mount for putting a light on the barrel of an AR-15, without the need for a rail. Using a forward hand position, and the light at 1 o'clock (to the right of the front site post), the light's tailcap switch is easy to activate with the thumb of the support hand-- no expensive pressure switch, no cord to get tangled, and low profile. If you're shooting a freefloated rifle in a Palma match, the weight of the light may degrade your accuracy by changing barrel harmonics. Otherwise, this is a great, simple option.

It's simple. You mount one clamp to the barrel of your weapon (12ga shotgun in my case) the other clamp is where your flashlight goes. Tada. That's it. I recommend using lockite on the screw, you don't want it falling off as you are squeezing off rounds. save $300 on that new foregrip with a light built into it, and buy this for less than $10!
