I did a bunch of research before purchasing this and decided to get an "off-brand" because of the conflicting comments on whether it would my Mossberg 500 (new). The other brand had the bolt slides built-in to their unit, but when installed the fore end would "swing" about 30 deg. It was very unstable and unsightly. After doing more research on the ATI site, I found a proper installation video showing how you remove the fore end's guts and reinsert them into the ATI. The ATI guy seemed to pull the Mossberg fore end innards out with two fingers(!). I don't know where he got that gun from! Other videos on YouTube had guys prying with screwdrivers and other implements taking 30 minutes to extract everything. I decided to try using a simple punch padded with a little patch so as not to scratch the metal finish and meaningfully tapped with a hammer to free the Mossberg tube from the fore end cover (don't forget to remove the large fore end tube nut first!)
