Best Entry Level Red Dot You Can Buy

by Andy Goss, from United States, OH Written on April 18, 2015
The Aimpoint Pro Patrol is my favorite red dot sight because of a few reasons.

First, you're getting a quality product that is going to work for you when you need it to. Realistically you're going to own this for a long time, so don't cut corners and buy something that will fail you when you need it most. Consider a failure of a red dot sight... not only do you have to replace it, but each time you miss it's going to cost you $.30 to $.50, and that adds up over time.

Next, and very important to me is the dot. I have several other "nice" red dots but what I've noticed is what I call "dot fur" that seems to be especially popular in Eotech models. This just drives me crazy on the thought of spending $500-600 for something and not being able to see what you're shooting at behind the fury dots (adjustment of brightness does not change this on Eotech). The Aimpoint dot is very crisp and defined, allowing you to see your target and make your shot. My effective range on an 8" gong is 240 yards, which isn't bad for a red dot. On closer shots, target acquisition/engagement is good.

Finally, the construction and ease of use makes it the best choice. It is rugged enough that you're not going to break it with a little accidental abuse. The battery life is good, and the ability to adjust the dot intensity is a piece of cake while you're looking through the optic. The best feature is the attachment and detachment. You can put it on and take it back off in under 5 seconds if you ...

Hands-down the most rugged, versatile, battle-proven optic there is today.

by Bryan You, from United States, VA Written on April 13, 2015
Aimpoint has done it again. For the money, you cannot buy a better optic for your rifle. Out of the box, you can tell the quality and craftsmanship that has gone into developing this red dot. Easy to install with a great quick mount feature, highly durable matte black anodized coating, and superior lens quality and clarity make this purchase a top buy for any gun enthusiast....

Aimpoint PRO + optics planet A+

by vet14tango, from United States, IN Written on April 12, 2015
Great optic and to be honest I like it more than my T1 which is now gone. Solid mount. Good battery life. Flip covers are great. Register with optics planet and watch coupon codes and you can buy it from optics planet cheaper than buying used....

Great addition to AR

by John k, from United States, CO Written on April 11, 2015
Super clear optics. Good adjustability of dot intensity. Mounts to a flat top upper in no time. Being a right handed shooter with a dominant left eye has always forced me to keep the left eye closed. Not any more. Both eyes open and dot is always on target. As usual, optics planet was easy to do business with....

Best bang for the buck right here!

by Lee Blackman, from United States, TX Written on April 10, 2015
The technology put in to these used to cost twice as much as they do now. This is the refined and improved version of the old M2's which used to cost much more. They are rock solid, and easy to use.

With the factory mount these true co-witness with your iron sights. The 30mm tube gives ample field of view. There is more available tube over the irons with true co-witness in the PRO than with micro red dots running 1/3rd co-witness.

No joke, when you buy this, put a new battery in and leave it on... Don't ever turn it off, you won't need to. Just change the battery out every other year and you'll be just fine.

Now the only downside is the weight, not that its very heavy for what it is to being with. The bulk of the weight seems to be in the mount. The whole PRO with mount isn't any heavier than an EO-Tech 552, but you can loose a little bit of the weight by changing out the mount if thats important to you. If that extra ounce doesn't bother you, then know your at least getting a rock solid and robust mount....

Aimpoint Pro!! Enough said.....

by Don, from United States, SD Written on April 9, 2015
It's really simple - quality quality quality... And Extremely Affordable. Doesn't get much better as far as value goes. Matching it up with a Larue Tactical mount just put the cherry on top. If you're debating on buying it (why else would you be reading this review?) you should have bought it yesterday....

Works as it should

by F-Leftys-nd-airsoft, from United States, PA Written on April 5, 2015
Simple crisp dot, shoots where you point, bit heavy but it's a full size model not a t1, easy to set up and use, battery life is perfection, ruggedness is almost unmatched, cannot be compared to Eotech those have less battery life and have more issues overall and are not as rugged and shock proof. The only dots I know this dependable are the russian red dots ( rakurs, conts, on, etc...) and possibly elcan and trijicon. Trijicon and pecan and rakurs cost or start at$600 all the way up to $2000 plus, yes they have more options, etc....so I won't compare too much but this one cost $370 shipped when OP had a 10% off, how can I complain. Perfect dot for urban environment for range, General plunk, and SHTF. Don't settle for lesser fake and replica airsoft bs, don't buy used on ebay half the stuff is China fake trash, but from real companies....
Pros:
  • battery life is good
  • dependability
  • not Chinese trash
  • built for combat
Cons:
  • large knob on the mount
Best Used for:
  • plinking
  • home defence
  • small game, large game
  • protection from rioting welfare mongers

Amazing Optic Package for an AR-15

by Joseph Solin, from United States, FL Written on March 30, 2015
I own an EOTech XPS2, which I was very happy with. Needed a second optic package for another AR, and thought I'd try the natural alternative.

Have to say this thing has exceptional battery life, is easy to use, very tough, and very reliable. Even the adjustments knob are solid - they are capped and click when turned. Like the EoTech, it's a little heavy.

Couldn't make a stronger recommendation. Just wish I had two....
