Aimpoint Pro

by Jay Spill, from United States, FL Written on March 26, 2015
Having used many different brands and models of red dot optics, the Aimpoint Patrol is my favorite. From the single red dot compared to the dot in a circle, and the smaller amount of space on the rail it takes up to mount, it clearly is a superior product. In bright sunshine, the red dot doesn't fade, and regardless of the angle you look through it, it's still spot on. When you have to carry a weapon in a work environment, less is more. The least amount of weight and ease of use makes this a winner in my book. Controls are easy and simple, no two fingered tricks. If I had to pick the one thing I don't like it would be the flip up lens protectors. They are not easy to see through in low light situations, and my big fingers have trouble getting the back one up. The good thing is they come off. I keep my iron sights up at all times, but there is still room to put the rear down if I so desired. Top of the line....
Pros:
  • small enough to fit on the rail with iron sight
  • bright, signle red dot
  • came almost zeroed
  • ready to mount
Cons:
  • lens caps hard to see through
Best Used for:
  • Patrol rifle

Well made.

by RL550, from United States, PA Written on March 25, 2015
This optic is very well made. You can tell its a quality item. Only fired 40 rds with it so far, but it's definitely the best red dot i've used so far. The rheostat on/off switch is very solid feeling when adjusting. Dot is plenty bright and didn't wash out on a sunny day with snow on the ground. Who can argue with a 3 year battery life!...
Best Used for:
  • hunting/tactical/operators

Perfect how you can leave the optic on for up too 3 years with out dying. I can leave it on for my whole patrol shift without worrying that its going to die on me. Durable. I would have to recommend this sight over any sight I have used in the past....

Aimpoint Pro Patrol Rifle Optic Red Dot a Great Optic

by Harry, from United States, NY Written on March 16, 2015
I've been looking for a quality affordable red dot optic for quite some time and I'm very pleased with the Aimpoint Pro. One of the main reasons I chose this optic is that it was designed for law enforcement and it's built tough. It has a three year battery life and comes with a mount..It looks great on my AR and I'm very happy with this purchase.....

Great Optic for the money!

by Gene, from United States, NC Written on March 15, 2015
This is a very high quality optic. This is an expensive optic at around $420, but I feel that you really do get what you pay for. Aimpoint has done a very nice job with this sight. Amazing lens clarity, rugged construction, a decent mount, and lens caps that fit well. This sight also has a very good range of brightness adjustments from NV mode to a brighter than the sun dot, if you need it! The only down side is it does add a bit of weight to my Colt M4 Carbine, but not really a major concern as most optics in it's class are also comparable in weight. I'm sure an aftermarket mount would shave off a few ounces, as the stock mounting system is a bit bulky with the large adjustment knob. The mount does fasten very securely, and is a very well made item. As is, it is good to go in my opinion. The PRO is a very good choice for someone that is looking for quality, reliability, and very long battery life....
Pros:
  • battery life
  • rugged construction
  • bright 2 MOA dot
  • Includes a mount
  • battery included
Cons:
  • mounting knob a little bulky
  • Nothing really bad to say

Aimpoint nuff said

by Red, from United States, TX Written on March 14, 2015
If you are familiar with quality red dot sights that your life can depend on, then you should be familiar with the Aimpoint name and know exactly what the company stands for, represents, and is. Enough said. You either already have one or you want one. For those of you who are not familiar with Aimpoint keep reading. Aimpoint is one of the top quality (if not the best) sight makers in the world. As far as I am concerned, Aimpoint and Eotech are the top choices in red dot sights. It really depends on what reticle you want, what design, and battery life. For the money, you are looking at one of the absolute best buys in a red dot sight, period. Widely used by law enforcement everywhere. Basically it is an M3 with a few minor changes, and the M3 is alot more money. The PRO has huge battery life, night vision compatible, comes with an AR style platform mount that will co-witness with your back up iron sights, flip up lens covers, waterproof to 150 meters, 10 year warranty, and most importantly, the Aimpoint name. A name I trust my life with and my families lives. If you want a cheaper brand name sight, they are all over the place. Just go buy one and hope for the best, but if you want quality, assurance, and most importantly reliability that you can count on in any situation, than Aimpoint is the way to go. If you have any questions, call the company itself. They will be happy to talk with you about their sights. Enough said, just get one and your done....

Outstanding quality

by Johnny, from United States, CA Written on March 13, 2015
I haven't completely put it throwing its paces but so far this is an excellent sight, cowitness is really clear, red dot has all the brightness levels needed including for really bright days outside. Much better clarity than an eotech's during daylight....

Aimpoint Pro Patrol Red Dot

by Rev0luti0nary, from United States, TN Written on March 13, 2015
I purchased this as a entry optic for one of my many AR's. I was looking for something that had a quick detach so that i could swap among rifles. The optic seems to have a fairly durable frame and that is a must. My rifles are not safe queens, they are tools that get used and abused, though well maintained! Personally i find the optic to be great for short to mid range target acquisition, anything further and the reticle seems to cover your target (tho it does hit if zeroed correctly, Just cant place your shots with precision as easily). The features are what edged me to purchase this over the other optic i was looking at(XPS3). The extended battery life with a common battery, waterproof for more than ill ever need, co witness if i ever need it, and price!. There's alot more i could say about this optic but to keep it short if you are thinking about getting one just do it you wont be upset and if you are sell it, i couldnt find these used for any cheaper than new. Tho try and wait for a coupon to help lessen the sting if this is an expensive optic for you....
Best Used for:
  • Short to mid-range engagements

One of the best red dot optics you can buy.

by Big J., from United States, WA Written on March 11, 2015
Was between either the Eotech or the Aimpoint. I am happy with the Aimpoint. Built tough and feels like good craftsmanship. Made in Sweden. Sits at 1/3 co-witness on my SR556 with Troy flip up battle sights. That's with the included spacer installed. The mount is definitely a plus....
Pros:
  • MOUNT INCLUDED
  • well built
  • long battery life
  • Made in Sweden
  • Clean glass
Cons:
  • None
Best Used for:
  • rifle
  • 5.56
  • 7.62
