Aimpoint Optic

by Chris, from United States, TX Written on September 4, 2014
After taking time to compare optics for my ar platform I decided on the Pro Patrol. I considered an Eotech site but for me the ability to leave it on for 3 yrs was a big selling point. Being able to pick up the rifle and fire without turning on a site is the only way to go. Even with the front cap closed on the optic you can still raise the weapon and fire at an instant. Mounting and siting was easy. I like that it has settings for the addition on night vision.I read some complaints about the tighten down bolt on the mount being too big but it doesnt seem to get in my way. Overall im very happy with the choice I made. Ohh arrived a day early....

Dollar for Dollar

by Travelpro, from United States, FL Written on September 4, 2014
You have all heard the saying "Dollar for Dollar". Now try saying Dollar for Two Dollars. The Aimpoint Rifle Pro is by far as good if not better than anything at twice it's price. Don't get fooled by the $85 dollar special by ABC I am made in China product. I have had many hard lessons on low priced optics...my dumb! First shot, no more optic or that 2 MOA dot blocks my whole target. Guess what, not 2 MOA.
The truth, this item shines. The pro does everything it's big expensive brothers do except only about 9 adjustment for brightness instead of 14. Do you really use 14? There are higher priced units with more options and a 4 or 6 MOA dot. I'll take 2 every time. Don't forget you get 1 color not 47. I can live with that as long as the clarity is excellant. Don't take my word, you don't know me. Get one, try it bet you keep it and buy another for one of your other rifles....
Pros:
  • None
Cons:
  • NONE found
Best Used for:
  • Target, hunting 0-300 yards

SenseiDeines

Great deal, especially for the price. The lens covers are great and protect well. Things to think about, if you are in Law Enforcement do you want to take the extra time taking a lens cover off while in a tactical situation? Also the quick detach is great for all aspects, but one is unable to use the Magpul mag links with this optic due to the big nob/quick detach....
Pros:
  • Patrol
  • Hunting
  • Great for lens protectoin due to the lens covers
  • qucik detach
Cons:
  • Takes too long to take the sight cover off while on patrol
  • Big quick detach.
Best Used for:
  • hunting
  • Patrol

aimpoint pro patrol rifle optic redot sight

by dan, from United States, FL Written on August 31, 2014
I have one other aim point sight as well as several other red dot brands I find aim point suits my needs the best. I have failing eyesight and the help of a red dot sight works when the iron sights do not. aim point is just the best of the best....

30mm tube of awesomeness

by dolamite, from United States, KY Written on August 31, 2014
It was a little bigger than I thought it would be, but it really didn't matter to me. When zeroing, got close and then it seemed as if the optic zeroed itself after that. Remarkable thing really. Love the 2 MOA dot. Very accurate. Very solid tough red dot. Very accurate. Definitely everything I thought it would be....

1st Aimpoint and it is one of my optics I interchange on a new M1a socom.
Will be excellent for hog hunting or anything out to 100 yards for me.
Still like my Eotech's and I think either are awesome...can't go wrong with either....

Excellent product

by Robert, from United States, MO Written on August 29, 2014
You cannot go wrong with this sight. I use this on an AR15 in 3-gun matches. It comes ready to mount, it takes about 30 seconds to mount. The glass is outstanding and the dot is sharp. The 2-MOA dot makes long range shooting easy and it still works just fine for close up targets. The adjustments for windage and elevation are positive, the clicks can be felt and heard. You can use this sight in an absolute downpour and be confident that it will be just fine....

totally worth it.

by Raylan, from United States, PA Written on August 29, 2014
I researched the many optics out there before choosing the Aimpoint PRO. I wanted something that would work right out of the box, and something I'd only have to buy once. Too many other optics like Burris and such had luke warm, so-so reviews, and if I'm going to spend that kind of money, I feel I can do better than so-so. While no red dot is perfectly crisp, the aimpoint pro is pretty sharp, and it has a few different brightness settings. It's also night vision compatible, if that means anything to you, and the battery life is extremely long. (2.5+ years left ON so your weapon is always ready-and replacement batteries are surprisingly inexpensive) The device itself is very robust feeling. It doesn't feel like the cheapo garbage you can find in the sporting goods sections of department stores. This is the real deal. Its expensive, but its effective. Getting back on target is a breeze with AR15 platform type weapons. Out of the box, the mount is ready install to co-witness with your iron sights. However, your irons will be only in the lower 1/3 of the Aimpoint PRO. May take a little getting used to, but in no way is it a detriment. Overall, I would recommend it to anyone quality minded. You probably didn't cheap out on your rifle, why cheap out on your optic?...
