AO Prescription Sunglasses - Flight Gear Original Pilot

by Jan Bieber, from Czech Republic, Prague Written on April 21, 2015
The glasses are top notch and classy as always, althoug I would not recommend using polarized lenses for anything but flying, as they enable you to see weird patterns on most glass surfaces including car windshields and mirrors. For everyday use go without polarization....

Awesome Deal!

by Wingman62, from United States, GA Written on March 10, 2015
Ordered these in prescription and OP jumped right on it. Received the glasses quickly and they are perfect. The selections were more than sufficient and the lens choices give you a lot of options. I will recommend OP to my friends and really think they are the best deal on the net for prescription eye-wear. They also have very responsive customer service who kept me abreast of the progress of my order. Fast shipping too! Thanks Optics Planet for doing me a great deal!...

Great prescription sunglasses!

by Lee, from United States, MI Written on December 30, 2014
I have two pairs of these I have used for a couple of years, and am just about to order more with my updated prescription. I have used prescription glasses from most of the major name brands over the years, and these are my favorites by far. They look good, are comfortable to wear, hold up well over time, and have good vision. I like the bayonet temples best for comfortable, secure wear. Not much else to say, these are great, classic glasses, made in the USA!...

Great deal from a cost standpoint and great quality in a prescription pair of glasses. Light weight and scratch resistant lenses make this pair a winner. I plan to purchase a second pair for a backup.
Thanks!...

Be American, Buy American

by Iggy, from United States, MI Written on October 10, 2014
I am pleased to report that I'm really enjoying these sunglasses.

I've gone with the lightweight lenses since I don't want to take the chance of having nose pad imprints on the from wearing a heavier set of glass lenses throughout the day. The frame is sturdy, straight and well designed and free of any imperfections. I only wonder if the UV/UVB protection is 100% because I noticed that I still slightly squinted in full on bright sunlight. Keep in mind this is a slight concern and I may be mistaken. The bayonet armature is a nice change and once I have them adjusted properly for my head they will hold much better especially when I bend forward. This particular style of sunglasses may not be for everyone but for me they are the right choice. They give my face an upgrade. While I'm at it, I must also thank the persons who did the lens grinding, assembly and packaging. Those folks probably go unsung for the most part and I'd like to thank them for their accuracy and care in making this terrific American product....
Pros:
  • Ease of use
  • American made.
  • Contemporary design
  • Historic
Cons:
  • None
Best Used for:
  • everyday use
  • Daily driving
  • Working outdoors
  • Walking & Hiking

Great sunglasses

by zesty, from United States, GA Written on September 4, 2014
These sunglasses seem sturdy and comfortable. I've worn them for hours on a long trip and they were pretty comfortable. Only 4/5 stars because they're going to need some adjustment and the shipping was incredibly slow....

Great product, looooong processing time.

by Jack Burton, from United States, MA Written on August 29, 2014
I've had non-prescription AO sunglasses for years and recently ordered this prescription pair. The product is great. Same AO frames I've always liked and the gray polycarbonate lenses look and work great. The prescription is accurate as well, although there is a bit of distortion around the margins, but that's to be expected with polycarbonate.
My only complaint is that it took Optics Planet a month to fill the order and ship the glasses. That's roughly twice as long as even the slowest prescription services. During that month of waiting, I never once received an order status update or an estimated processing time....

I can pretend I'm an Astronaut

by Britguy68, from Canada, BC Written on August 29, 2014
Love these glasses. Read a lot reviews before getting them. Got the bayonet version as reviews mentioned they were better for keeping the glasses on your head! I fully tested this on some pretty extreme rollercoasters recently, and they stayed firmly on my head no problem.

I purchased the prescription lenses and AO still send you the original non-prescription lenses (with the AO enscribed). So standard issue for pilots and astronauts...of which I'm neither....

Good sturdy glasses.

Good glasses, very sturdy and well made. The turnaround time was about 4 days -- which is great. The glasses come in a nice case with a cleaning cloth. I would buy them again when the time arrives. I will order a different pair with a different color. Good overall value....
