Best night sights out for MP Shield

by Legacy Reviewer, Verified Owner Written on August 1, 2013
Bought these sights to replace the XS big dots I had on my Shiled 9mm. Wish I would have purchased these the first time around. Almost the same as stock sights, just w/ Tritium. Would highly recommend these for any Shield owner.
Pros: Nice and bright replacement for stock sights
Cons: None...

AmeriGlo SW-145 Tritium Night Sights for S&W Shield

by Legacy Reviewer, Verified Owner from United States, PA Written on May 24, 2013
The Ameriglo SW-145, 3 dot sights for the S&W Shield seem to be well made and potentially very rugged. As another reviewer noted, the Shield is a tough gun to change sights on. The problem is not so much with the aftermarket sights as the tight dove-tail slots on the slide. I made and used a bronze (softer than steel, harder than brass) punch to drive out the original sights. After that the installation was pretty straight foward (sandpaper and a file). I like how the sights make my gun easier to find in the dark, but I wish the rear face of the rear sight blade had been sloped forward, matching the angle of the slide, for a less conspicuous print profile and a smoother draw from concealment. Maximizing the sight radius is pointless on a pocket pistol like this. Overall, the addition of these sights has improved an already nice pistol.
Pros: The tritium dots are quick to acquire and easy to see under any conditions.
Cons: As this is a concealled carry weapon I wish the rear surface of the rear sight blade was angled forward for a more snag resistant draw....

AmeriGlo Tritium Front and Rear Sights MP Shield 3 Dot night Sight set GRN,GRN SW-145

by Legacy Reviewer, Verified Owner Written on February 24, 2013
Be aware that the MGW sight tool for M&P will not work on the shield. The Meprolight KimPro Universal Sight Tool or other will be best. I've installed night sights on quite a few of my pistols that came stock with contrast or painted dot sights and the Ameriglo SW-145 tritium 3 Dot night sight set is the best choice for the M&P Shield. They are not likely to cause holster snag, the day use outline is crisp and clear, the tritium inserts produce good illumination and I have confidence they will last for years of recoil and general wear and tear. I prefer the 3 dot version over the 2 dot SW-141 version. I find 2 dots a bit slower to acquire elevation. I have installed Ameriglo Operators / Pros / Special combinations / Defoor / Target sights on many, many Glocks and find them to be my favorites for them. I have never been disappointed in any of the Ameriglo products I've purchased.
Pros: bright illumination, snag-free design, durable
Cons: not Ameriglo's fault but the shield is a tough install...
