AO General

by UWrs, from United States, WA Written on September 5, 2014
Really high quality construction, but they just didn't fit right on my face so I had to send them back. I feel like the angle of the earpieces are a little too low- should have a bit of a slant so that the bottom of the frames don't sit so far away from your face....

AO Flight Gear General Series Sunglasses

by DAH, from United States, NE Written on August 29, 2014
Very high quality product. This is the 2nd pair of AO sunglasses that I have purchased. If you like Ray Ban, you will love AO Flight Gear General Series Sunglasses. They are a much better value and made in the US, unlike Ran Ban which is owned by Luxottica Group, from Italy. Would definitely buy again for OP. Fast shipping, no surprises!...

a true american military classic!

by Raniel, from United States, CA Written on July 30, 2014
These were the classic aviators even before RayBans aviators! Solid metal construction, completely customizable to your preferences, and even cheaper than "off the rack" RayBans, i'll stick with these for sure....
Pros:
  • custom
  • metal
  • amazing fit
  • polarized
Cons:
  • None
Best Used for:
  • everything

Forget RayBans, get these instead

by Legacy Reviewer, from United States, WA Written on April 12, 2014
I got these with glass lenses, so I was a bit concerned that the weight of the lenses would cause the shades to slide down my face while wearing. Even without making any adjustments to the nose pads, I had no problems with this! They stayed in place nicely during bicycling, vigorous walking and occasional jogging. Lens quality is FANTASTIC. I was worried about the amber being too dark, but am pleased to say they're fine for driving. I wear these for both sunny and overcast days, and love how they look.

Made in USA quality, and the price is unbeatable. Why pay $200 for Randolph or RayBans when you can get these for 60% cheaper for the same quality?...

Leave the Bausch & Lomes to the Fashionistas...

by Legacy Reviewer, from United States, CA Written on November 29, 2013
A*s, grass or gas, Nobody R-I-D-E-S for free!!! That is my personal philosophy and that of the products I purchase. B&L were MILSPEC contract Pilot glasses during WWII. They were solid, ruggedly built and did their job well. They became fashionable because all the cool pilots wore them. American Optical produces the same MILSPEC quality optics as B&L did but at half the price. ITS THE BUILD QUALITY, STUPID; not the STUPID NAME!!! Bought mine at the BX Teague, ROK and had them for 12 years no problem. Had to replace them when some thief broke into my Greek Renta-wreck to steal them!!!
Don't go cheap!!! Pop the extra $13 bucks for POLORIZED, GLASS OPTICAL LENSES!!! Leave the Poly-crap lenses for those who shop at the Dollar Store!
This is my first order---treat me nice and I'll buy a back-up pair!!!
Pros: MILSPEC, Baby!!!
Cons: Doesn't have the cache of B&Ls but so what?!!!...

Works for me !

by Legacy Reviewer, Written on September 15, 2011
For myself, I tend to like these glasses. The size I ordered was the larger frame, they work out fine for me and are very clear to see far distance and they also are good for regular sight distance. After I had recieved them, I had they fit to my head for the perfect fit.
Pros: The bigger size frame fit me best, for bigger sized people.
Cons: Not so far....

Best sunglasses

by Legacy Reviewer, from United States, LA Written on June 21, 2011
I love the way you can order exactly what you want (lense color etc..) These are almost identical to the aviator sunglasses I puchased 30 years ago at England AFB (now closed). I used those glasses until 6 months ago....

Great sunglasses

by Legacy Reviewer, from United States, AL Written on May 27, 2010
There was only one negative, and I will start with it. When I first opened the sunglasses, I noticed that one of the lenses was not seated in the frame properly. I have a jeweler's screwdriver, so I was able to back off the screw so that I could get the lens in the frame correctly. This is the type of thing that I would expect before it left the factory and before the seller shipped it to me.

For the positives, I don't know if you could find many better sunglasses for the price. I have worn RayBan aviators for years, and I find these AO's to have superior lenses, not to mention that they are polarized. I can't see spending $40-50 more for a pair of RayBan's when these meet or exceed the performance of the RayBans.
Pros: Great lenses, great price, timeless style
Cons: Quality control...
