a true american military classic!

by Raniel, from United States, CA Written on July 30, 2014
These were the classic aviators even before RayBans aviators! Solid metal construction, completely customizable to your preferences, and even cheaper than "off the rack" RayBans, i'll stick with these for sure....
Pros:
  • custom
  • metal
  • amazing fit
  • polarized
Cons:
  • None
Best Used for:
  • everything

Leave the Bausch & Lomes to the Fashionistas...

by Legacy Reviewer, from United States, CA Written on November 29, 2013
A*s, grass or gas, Nobody R-I-D-E-S for free!!! That is my personal philosophy and that of the products I purchase. B&L were MILSPEC contract Pilot glasses during WWII. They were solid, ruggedly built and did their job well. They became fashionable because all the cool pilots wore them. American Optical produces the same MILSPEC quality optics as B&L did but at half the price. ITS THE BUILD QUALITY, STUPID; not the STUPID NAME!!! Bought mine at the BX Teague, ROK and had them for 12 years no problem. Had to replace them when some thief broke into my Greek Renta-wreck to steal them!!!
Don't go cheap!!! Pop the extra $13 bucks for POLORIZED, GLASS OPTICAL LENSES!!! Leave the Poly-crap lenses for those who shop at the Dollar Store!
This is my first order---treat me nice and I'll buy a back-up pair!!!
Pros: MILSPEC, Baby!!!
Cons: Doesn't have the cache of B&Ls but so what?!!!...

Works for me !

by Legacy Reviewer, Written on September 15, 2011
For myself, I tend to like these glasses. The size I ordered was the larger frame, they work out fine for me and are very clear to see far distance and they also are good for regular sight distance. After I had recieved them, I had they fit to my head for the perfect fit.
Pros: The bigger size frame fit me best, for bigger sized people.
Cons: Not so far....

Best sunglasses

by Legacy Reviewer, from United States, LA Written on June 21, 2011
I love the way you can order exactly what you want (lense color etc..) These are almost identical to the aviator sunglasses I puchased 30 years ago at England AFB (now closed). I used those glasses until 6 months ago....

Bought these for my Cadet daughter at the USAFA and she loves them
Pros: smaller frame for women, good polarized optics

Very good product, maybe not for thin faces

by Legacy Reviewer, Verified Owner from United States, AZ Written on January 14, 2010
I was impressed by the optical clarity with absolute absence of distortion of the TrueColor glasses. And they have a slight mirror effect (not a full mirror effect, but still more than normal glass) that makes them cool. The frame is very sturdy but still light. They were a present for my father and he loves them. Only cons, the 58mm are maybe a bit too large for slimmer faces like mine, and the 52mm are too small. It would be great if AO produced also an intermediate 56mm. But if you don't have a slim face they are perfect.
Pros: Excellent optical quality, sturdy construction but still light enough
Cons: Maybe a bit too large for smaller faces...

excellent sunglasses

These sunglasses were very sturdy and well-made - not at all those cheap plastic glasses you find in NYC. These are very high-quality shades....
