Armasight Sirius ID MG Gen 2+ Night Vision Monocular

by DeadEye, from United States, NC Written on January 13, 2015
This is a great monocular for the price. The controls and switches are easy to use. The exterior has a heavy duty armor coating. I could see across my property easily at 120 yards. There are great accessories available for this item available on Optic Planet's site. Optics Planet is the easiest online store to deal with. Their customer service is unmatched....

Great buy for the money

by Bill, from United States, TX Written on October 10, 2014
I am impressed with the NV capabilities of this device. It is at least Gen 2+. It marries perfectly with a Vortex red dot, providing me the ability to use independently as a NV device and then quickly mount to an M4 for night time shooting....

Sirius Gen2+ a good choice

by Legacy Reviewer, Verified Owner from United States, WY Written on March 21, 2013
The Sirius Gen2+ Improved Definition monocular is a well-made device that is designed to last. In my opinion, the quality of the image is very good for price of the product. I needed to get an answer regarding the scope that OpticsPlanet customer service could not answer so I call the Armasight customer service and received a thorough and satisfactory response from a friendly, helpful and very knowledgeable service representative, and the call was never put on hold. The Armasight Corporation is a recent entry into the commercial night vision market and it appears that they understand the importance of good customer service and an extensive product selection of well-made products.
Pros: Easy to operate in total darkness, Lightweight, Upgradeable, Solid construction, Armasight is customer friendly

Sirius

by Legacy Reviewer, from United States, WA Written on January 17, 2013
Top class unit of Gen 2 scope range! To my opinion Sirius 2+ is a very smart and optimal choice referring Gen 2 sets from Armasight. It has nothing the superfluous and at the same time is completed with all necessary NV device high-grade features: perfect built-in IR illuminator, optional magnification range up to 8x, very nice coating and compact design. Gen 2+ tube resolution is great as for the cost no evident difference between center and edge image view. The scope is a well done thing from Armasight. If you get it - you will feel at once that its accomplished with high precision and skill. As for me there is no reason to let it pass over. ...

Armasight Sirius

by Legacy Reviewer, from United States, WA Written on November 6, 2012
Very good device! Im satisfied with its work for 100%! The image is rather better than in the other devices Ive tested before so I dont regret the money Ive spent as I have a device of such a good quality with all necessary features and accessories. Personally I mount the device to the head gear as I prefer to be always ready for shooting. The last time I hunted I purchased it with additional 3x A-focal lens that is very convenient as I mounted it just in seconds without any problems. Armasight Sirius is the best night vision monocular that perfectly fits all my life activities so I would highly recommend not to waste time for searching and order Sirius!...

Affordable quality

by Legacy Reviewer, from United States, WA Written on October 26, 2012
I was thinking about a Gen 1 monocular first because Gen 2 could drain my budget. But well, I do not buy night vision every day. Besides, the difference in performance between Gen 1 and Gen 2 items is really significant. I bought Armasight Sirius as it turned out to be the best combination of price and quality. It looks a little bit bigger than higher end monoculars, but I do not care I am not going to use it hands free. Im planning to get additional magnification lens for Sirius though, most likely 5x one.
Pros: price, clear image, available accessories
Cons: size (not a big problem for me though)...

I guess you're just paying for the tube

by Legacy Reviewer, Verified Owner Written on October 23, 2012
For a 2+ gen device this is a great deal. As far as optics I have gotten just what I expected out of them. The main reason for the high cost of more than Gen 1 products is the better light amplifying tube. This is a very effective night vision device. If you want the most versatility, a separate IR illuminator is a must, the one that comes on the unit is not sufficient for anything beyond 3m.

I am disappointed in the quality of the parts and headgear, just not very good. The headgear does hold the unit secure, I'm just offering my first impression.

All else aside, I believe one can get his/her money's worth out of this device, accepting the limitations of Gen 2 and night vision in general.
Pros: Price
Cons: Component quality...
