I purchased this device several months ago and can recomend it to those looking for a good NVD in this price range. I have purchased multiple devices from other makers for my family and this one is hands down the best. It out performs all other gen 1s in my inventory of 5. I have used it in the pouring rain, in the heat and cold and it does what you need and keeps up. I have since purchased the AIM mount and can now use this as a weapon sight or a hand held mono. The AIM sight base goes back to within a minute of angle to zero after being removed and replaced and is a great option to add to the Spark. The AIM base needs to be turned up pretty high but works well in conjuntion with this mono. This flexablity allows for a very useful product. The clairity of the sight is way above any other gen1. There is no artifacts or "garbage" in the view and it is much flatter across a wider range of the optic. The clarity of the picture is much finer than most all other gen 1 tubes. This also gives much less "fish eye" than other gen 1s(but some still is present). The built in IR is good for in houses and close quarters but not for outside. It has a short range, but is useful. An added IR (like on most gen 1s) is very helpful when you dont have a lot of moon and stars or are under a heavy canopy. The external Armasight IR is very well made and I really like that the mount allows you to move the light around BUT it throws a somewhat odd boxy shape beam. It (external IR) can be focused. The armasight spark really does outperform all other gen 1s and is really on par with most but not all gen 2s. Its NOT a gen 3, but then again, nor is the price. One bit to note- there are a couple of rails on the device that are odd sized and I needed to find an adapter. This adapter comes with the armasight external IR and the AIM sight base is built to accomodate this as well. Other aftermarket IRs and such will not directly bolt on. As I recall I think it is an 11mm rail- just know its not standard. I had to special order a holo sight to mount on this mono for day use as a rifle scope. As others have noted the storage pouch is top notch. In general, this scope screams mil grade and I will be purchasing another.
