night vision rifle scope

by Soomdawg53, from United States, CA Written on August 7, 2014
Only had a chance to go to the range to get it sighted in at 100 yards. Can't wait to do some some long distance stuff real soon.
scope is a little heavy but it's just the ticket for night time shooting...

ATN MK 410 Spartan - Great image, range and functionality.

by Legacy Reviewer, Written on November 26, 2013
I got this scope due to a friends recommendation, he has the Paladin. I very much like the 410 Spartan. The image is very, very good considering this is a Gen 1 scope. The controls are easy to manipulate, and adjustments are also easy.

I do think that a previous reviewer may be on to something about the magnification, I think that 5x is a bit optimistic, but it is difficult for me to say for certain. That said, I was able to easily pick up movement at distance, even small objects, and the image quality is vastly superior to other Gen1 NV Ive seen. I have not had a chance to fully distance this but have been able to make out human sized items at 150+ yards. At this distance, it was difficult to tell varying critters - squirrel, skunk, fox, cat or coyote. You can tell there are critters, but youre pushing here. Still, within this distance, the imaging is very, very good for the price point. Its very good period.

The unit is big and heavy, no argument. But it does work and work very well. it will take up quite a bit of rail space and it is large. If you mean to case this scope mounted to your rifle, keep this in mind.

I would buy this scope again without hesitation.
Pros: image quality, reticle, ergonomics
Cons: size and weight...

impressed

by Legacy Reviewer, from United States, WA Written on July 22, 2013
I took the unit to the beach "Jersey shore" I was amased. With any light, star light you can see several hundred yards out. The IR illuminator worked well and can be adjusted. The next step is taking it to the range.I also found it very useful kayak fishing on a moonless night....

Incorrect Magnification Advertized

by Legacy Reviewer, Verified Owner from United States, TX Written on March 26, 2013
I received my first ATN 410 scope and was disappointed to observe much less than 5x magnification. I called the company and was told that I could return it. Upon second scope arrival...same thing. I set up a camera and took a picture through the scope, then removed and took picture without...never moved camera or object. I then measured results with calipers. Magnification is only 2.9x. Also, the night vision is extremely lacking (I suppose that Gen1 is just very poor quality). Only good to about 50 yards with infrared light and moonlight. Additionally, one of the scopes had a large fuzzy green spot near the center--right were you try to focus on target--very distracting. Not worth $500 in my mind. Opticsplanet was very good about issuing RMAs and paying return freight.
Pros: none.
Cons: 2.9x mag, very heavy, fuzzy in spots....

This thing is wonderful! I usually don't give review, but I am hoping to save you some research time! If you are looking for a great hunting scope for mid to far off game this is the bet buy around, and for the price I say go for it. It works well and comes with batteries and a carrying case. Over all in an unbiased opinion two thumbs way up!!

Awsome bang for buck with ND3

by Legacy Reviewer, from United States, TX Written on October 13, 2012
This thing is the best I have used in this price range. I have had zero problems with the scope. The IR albeit small will surprise you. If you use a laser designator and or a powerful IR spotlight you are deadly.
Pros: Works well better than expected works great with Lazer Designators such as the ND3 also auto shut off in white wash protects unit.
Cons: heavy need a tripod for long range...
