The beauty of this setup is that it permits the PS22 to be placed on several different rifle scopes in a matter of seconds. The only item needed is high or extra high scope rings. It even fits one of my scopes without either of the two rubber adapter rings included.

Pros:  Easy to use; can be used on multiple weapons with same scope objective lens size
Cons:  Expensive; uses plastic ring inserts that are easily dropped in the dark; ring inserts are split and have a tendency to coil inside the mount making it difficult to mate to the objective lens
Would recommend:  yes

I use this with an ATN PS22 on a Leupold VX3 scope with 50 mm objective lens. The device is easy to use and provides one the ability to mount the NVD on different weapons as long as the scopes' objective lens are the same size (or close). This mounting system provides a solid and stable connection between the NVD and the scope. The only down side is that the mounting device relies on plastic ring-shaped inserts to clamp down securely on the objective lens. These rings are split and tend to coil up as you place the proper one in the inner part of the mount. I found it challenging to mate the mount to the scope in under three tries because the insert ring would coil on me as I slid the mount onto the scope. I think I'm going to try some double sided tape to secure the insert ring to the mount - that should make the process of mating the mount to the scope a quick and easy process. Good product and we've had no trouble with it after firing over 100 rounds with the NVD mounted to the scope ...

Pros:  Solid construction
Cons:  be careful w/ the dimensions!
Would recommend:  yes

bigtesla99 wrote:

Solidly built with a nice thread protector as well. Be careful with your selection of the adapter #. I bought the #6 for 62mm scope lenses, intending to use it on my nightforce nxs with 62mm objective. The inner diameter of this adapter (with plastic insert) is right at 62mm, but the outer diameter of the nightforce is too large, ~65 mm if memory serves. So to make this work, I had to remove the plastic insert and replace it with some thin gaffers tape (masking tape would probably work also) to keep from scratching the scope body. Without the insert, the inner diameter of this adapter is a hair over 65mm and makes a perfect fit on the nightforce. So be careful, the advertised dimensions seem to be for the scope body's overall diameter at the front objective, not the objective lens itself... at least in the case of the #6.

Pros:  Easy to use, quick, effective
Cons:  insert rings keep sliding when trying to install.
Would recommend:  yes

Rudy wrote:

My first thought was $100 for that? But it is well constructed and seems durable. I do have a few issues with it though, unless I'm just using it wrong. When you slide the adapters in they snap into place. Often when I try to mount it to the scope the ring slips out of place pushing it further down into the adapter housing. It is easily fixed and more annoying than anything else. My main issue is that I think it would be better to either send more adapters or have a "pick and choose" option.

Pros:  none
Cons:  This adaptor is way overpriced. No instruction manual. Very little sizing information.
Would recommend:  no

Buster wrote:

The adaptor only accepts two fine threads into the PS-22 body. It also is not designed to tighten to a spot where the PS-22 is in an upright position. The product service people at ATN and Planet Optics did not understand how to use the adaptor. There was no instruction book with the adaptor. The instructions for the adaptor came with the PS-22 and they were not very detailed. Most specifically instructions about the small plastic stopper ring located at the thread end of the adaptor. It would probably be better to use the extended rail setup for an AR15 and not have to worry about the very expensive night vision becoming detached. There also needs to be a better explanation about sizing the adaptor to a scope.

Pros:  Quality, ease of install
Cons:  None so far
Would recommend:  yes

XMansv wrote:

ATN only makes military grade very high quality products. This mount is no exception. The mount is robust. Rather than use a hex screw, ATN chose to use a knob which requires no tool to quickly mount and dismount the PS-22. Due to ATN's creative engineering, zero is in no way effected by mounting and unmounting the PS-22 as the zero is held only in the daylight scope. The mount uses insert adapters to match various sizes of your daylight scope. Optics Planet has been smart enough to document that the various sizes specified for the different model mounts relate to the outside diameter of your daylight scope and NOT the objective lens size. ATN has not made this as clear. Good job Optics Planet. There is also a long rail Optics Planet also sells if you are concerned about the extra weight on your daylight scope. This is a great mount for a great scope, the PS-22. Optics Planet price was unbeatable.
