Thermal Vs Night Vision

by Legacy Reviewer, from United States, WA Written on December 21, 2012
I read the below post about comparing a Gen3 scope with a thermal. IT couldnt be anymore flawed. Its really like comparing apples with bananas. Thermal vs Night Vision couldnt be more different. Thermal is more of a detection technology and night vision is more of a recognition. Now there are pros and cons to both...

snipers would never use thermal to shoot a target, bcz they need more facial recognition before taking the shot... Thermal on the other hand would detect a heat signature easily 700-800 yards away in whatever light setting.

so when you compare these two to each other, u are being completely wrong.

Gen3P is a superb night vision technology and u cant do better than that

thermal is a whole different technology and is more versatile and this thermal is simply amazing!...

Awesome Thermal

by Legacy Reviewer, from United States, WA Written on November 2, 2012
I used this scope on my AS-50 to pop people trying to loot Elektro. I could see people clear as day and was able to pop 5 newbs before needing to reposition. I was even able to kill a counter sniper who thought his ghillie suit would hide him. 5 stars, would recommend
Pros: Easy to grief newbs in Elektro
Cons: Server admins ban you if you get caught with it...

Thermo versus generation 3

by Legacy Reviewer, from United States, IA Written on June 22, 2012
The Thor 320 3x Thermal scope is my second night vision scope. I also have a ATN Aries Mark 7700
generation 3 night scope which I bought about 8 years ago.

The Thor 320 3x has 3 magnification settings - 1x, 2x and 4x. I don't know if the 4x versus the
advertised 3x is a product upgrade or what. The 4x setting is too grainy for use. Save yourself
a thousand bucks and go with the Thor 2x.

The Thor 320 has black & white as well as as 10 color plats. The color plats aren't worth anything.
You get a much more natural picture with the black & white as well as much better depth perception.
Hot objects glow bright white while cooler objects appear darker. If you have ever looked at a 20
shade .gif black & white picture on a computer the image in my scope would rate about like a 10
scale picture in comparison.

The Thor 320 came mounted on a quick release mount which I truely like. It goes on and comes off
in just a few seconds. ATN put it in a waterproof Pelican box but the foam inside is cut for a
different scope. When not in use the scope should be stored in the case and not on a weapon.

I was a little disappointed that foliage blocks out the thermal image. I watched a deer walk through
my corn field and as it came out I noted that a single leaf was all that it took to blockout the
thermal image. I took the scope out in the car and discovered that the window had to be down for the
scope to work and also that it would not show if a car is occupi...
