ATN Viper is a good night vision. It is so small and lightweight. The range being irradiated of the Infrared Illuminator is a quite short.

Pros: Works well and cheap
Cons: can't see as far as I would like to but for the price.
Would recommend: yes

It works well in areas with no lighting. Works really good in the wood at night. Outside around the house at night, it works, ok. Peoples porch light that are about 1/2 mile down the road when looking that direction tends to cut down on the distance and identification of what you are looking at. But for the price = nice.

I was astounded to find positive reviews of this product after ordering and trying to use it myself. A monocular designed by a stylist, not an engineer. Headgear is so bad as to be insulting. Note side view of head gear on this site and owner's manual clearly shows headgear strap interfering with user's ears. straps do not get down low enough on back of your head, so it just falls off from the weight of the monocular. Forehead pad is too thick and soft,so unit flops around instead of securing unit. ATN, get a bra designer to do your headgear. At least they know how to keep something that weighs 10 oz in its corect location. This is the perfect gift for someone you really hate. Really

For the price the NV is OK... but the mounting and headgear is very poor. Hard to adjust and doesn't stay in place when you finally get it adjusted.

Close to the same look and operation of the night vision sets used at my Guard unit, this monocular does close to the same job at a great price. It is fun for walking and driving around in the woods without any lights during the night. Also handy for finding the light switch in the basement if your flashlight runs out of batteries. It only needs an adapter to fit on the rhino mount on my helmet.
