For anyone looking to place a decent scope on a Ruger Mini-14 (Ranch/Tactical) with integral scope mounts, this is the scope. I hunted high and low for a good scope to use in conjunction with a good set of see-through rings, and it was just one disappointment after another. Until I found Weaver see-through rings from Andean Firearms ($30) and the Barska 2x7 Point Black rifle scope from Optics Planet. I just can't stress how perfect this set-up is. I can go from open sights to the Barska in a matter of seconds, and the Barska is SPECIFICALLY designed for the .223 round fired from high recoil semis. It has a BDC as well as a built-in bullet weight compensator for the 50, 55, and 62 grain .223. My long and frustrating hunt is over. Thank you Andean Firearms and Optics Planet. Now, for those of you with Mini-14s who are looking for the right rings and rifle scope set-up, here it is. You won't be disappointed.
Pros: Cost, features, reliability, 3g reticle, quick focus
