Decent for the price.

by mshilly, from United States, CA Written on September 23, 2014
none yete is not perfect, however, for the price ($85 out the door) it has a number of features much more expensive scopes don't have. The glass is clear at all magnifications except the two extremes 3x and 9x. At the extremes it has noticeable distortion but is still usable. When I bought it I was able to compare it directly to a Nikon 3-9x40 that was more than twice the price. It compared well enough that I bought it.

I mounted it n a .22 rifle and don't expect to have any problems with zeroing or holding zero since there is virtually no recoil. While the rings are not really top of the line, a little locktite will keep it from moving around....

OK for price

Lower quality optics and light reflects in tube. Looks great on gun but I wish I would have spent a little more on better one. The reflection in the tube from the illuminated recticle is annoying in low light situations. They should have painted the inside of the tube with flat black to cut down on the glare. If you are going for looks, it is great....

Takes Time to Love

by Legacy Reviewer, from United States, OR Written on May 5, 2014
First of all, I AM NOT A REP FOR BARSKA. I was actually a little pissed off I bought this scope, but now I love it.
Second, all of these reviews are 100% on point.
Third, I will examine how you can fix what some of these posts hate, although you may still hate it.
fourth, I immediately bought 3rd party accessories to accommodate (what in my mind) is where its cheap price point kicks in.

I had to buy larger (higher rise) scope mount rings to be able to fit this on. I also wanted other rings because the rings that the scope comes with are technically "weaver" style, and "technically" don't have the potential to hold as tight as "mil spec picatinny" do. So I bought hard core high-rise 1" $60 scope rings.
Now I am about to purchase another riser ($25) for the scope BECAUSE i am currently looking right into my front sight(gas block too) so i don't have the clearest image possible. This riser is picatinny on picatinny riser that you can see through to your front sight (so hollow in the middle for the whole length of the riser).
Sighting this thing in is a REAL pain. There's a locking ring around each adjustment knob (elevation & windage). There are also allen-wrench screws in the top of each adjustment knob. I tightened the locking ring & the allen-wrench screws because I saw "DAPSTER"'s review. This made it so the reticle had no chance of moving HOWEVER i think i over tightened it SO now on the elevation knob, you cannot use the allen-wrnech screw to adjust the knob any...

Thought I couldn't go wrong for what I paid but I did. At 100 yards target was very blurry. As I moved my eye left to right and up to down the cross hairs moved more than 3 inches at 100 yards.
Pros: compact
Cons: very blurry at 100 yards...

***NOVELTY*** Not a legitimate rifle scope!

by Legacy Reviewer, Verified Owner from United States, MD Written on February 28, 2013
I really only bought this scope for the compact size but figured if it comes with the illumination feature that's a bonus. I was very excited to receive this scope due to it's compact size. I didn't expect a Barska to perform like a high dollar scope and I was a little skeptical about the low price but figured "For $100 how bad could it be?" Well it's definitely not worth $100, that's for sure! The scope mounts are very cheap and had to be replaced. The reticle did not focus well and became very blurry when targeted at 100 yards, which I don't think is asking too much. The worst part is the reticle illumination... When you turn on the illumination, the entire inside of the scope is lit up which is extremely distracting! You can see all of the inner workings of the scope lit up bright enough to wash out what your trying to view through the scope. The light inside is so bright that if you hold your hand where your eye would be while looking through the scope, you can see the red light shining on your hand out the back of the scope like a dim flashlight. It seems that Barska didn't use any sort of matte finish or masking to cut down on glare inside the scope. I would definitely not reccomend this scope if you want a real rifle scope. If you want a scope to mount on an airsoft gun to "look cool" then you might be ok.
Pros: Compact, advertised features
Cons: Build quality makes features virtually useless!...

You can't go wrong

I bought this for my AR and I couldn't be happier. I sighted it in at 50 yards and after shooting 50 rounds my target had about 6 bullet holes around the bullseye and one more hole a quarter could cover...and that was with cheap millitary ammo.
Pros: Flat AWESOME
Cons: zero...

Shooter

by Legacy Reviewer, Verified Owner from United States, NC Written on January 31, 2013
Been a sport shooter for nearly 45 years
Tried all Brands and stiles,Thought I would try a Barska
Bought 11/29/2012 - Recieved 11/07/2012 -Mounted it on the rifle, Went to the gun range, Zeroed it in, seemed to do very well, Went back to range a week later, noticed a spot on lenses, cleaned lense, spot was internal.contacted Optics Planet about issue - they would not except it back because I had mounted on the rifle, Imagine that a scope you can't mount because of warranty. So I contacted Barska, to get a RMA to return for repair or replacement-I have emailed and called a number of times, they take messages and say they will get back to me. Today 01/31/2013 still no word from Barska - a complete waste of time and my money - first and last Barska
Pros: Heavy - Easy Set Up - Zeroed easy
Cons: Barska Want Stand Behind Their Product...

Still early, but awesome product!

by Legacy Reviewer, from United States, WA Written on January 16, 2013
Bought the scope for my son's AR for Christmas 2012. We bolted the scope on the rifle in seconds. In sighting the scope, he hit a 2 Liter bottle at 75 yards with the first 3 shots; the scope was zeroed when we bolted it on. The red/green crosshairs are excellent in low-light conditions. We took the AR out shooting this past weekend and put about 150 rounds through the gun; the scope held true.
Pros: Easy to install, use, and zero
Cons: None noted...
