This is my third bino of this type manufactured at Kunming, China.
The two other brands have the pretty bad and cheap ruby coatings and one of them a plastic bag which emits a feculent smell of chemical substances. The Barska has none of these troubles. The coatings are certainly not the best available, reflect apparently quite much light, but are much better as the similar binos with ruby coated lenses of Meade and Tasco. There are not less than ten pieces or rubber armor over both barrels, which means o lot of silicone joints that are not always cleanly worked. The transparent silicone joints are quite everywhere visible.
But the Barska is clearly the best choice for this type of Marine Binoculars because it has the better optics, the better quality control and collimation and the better bag (with Tasco).
The focusing of the eyepiece do not work especially smooth, but just even a little bit too hard to be qualified as comfortable. The depth of sharpness is really great, you can see sharp between 300 and 1000 feet without focusing.
The image is crisp over nearly 60 % of the visual field. Visible vignetting, fuzziness and distortions at the edges, but at an acceptable extent.
The light transmission is in my opinion quite moderate. You should not expect performances after sunset like a Zeiss victory 8x56 which is ten times more expensive, but I would estimate only 10 % less.
By daylight, the Barska shows a crisp and splendid image with vivid colors.
