Bad Scope DO Not Buy

by Billystick, from United States, FL Written on July 28, 2014
Bought this scope from Optics planet in April 22, 2014
mounted on a New keltec 556/223 rifle ,shot 120 rounds with
no problem. Scope was not as clear as my Nikon 223
3 months later went to the range and after 40 rds. the Illumination dial
fell off the scope , Barska states I have to pay for shipping to
California and back, the hassle and the scope aren't worth it.
Do Not Buy Barska 30 day warranty!...

Decent for Money, expecting Leupold quality, or even simmons look elsewhere

by Legacy Reviewer, from United States, WA Written on April 3, 2014
This is a decent scope for the cost, I was looking for a scope to use so i figured Id try this one. I bought this about 5 years ago right when I first was getting into the gun thing. I was in expiereinced so I went home and mounted it on my 30.06. Big mistake... first shot and I was done at the range for the day. Lost all the crosshairs and a lense fell out. Brought it back to the store, got a replacement. Went home put in the closet and eventually got a .22LR to put it on.

I havent had any problems on the .22LR with zeroing or durability issues. It has been on for about 1200 rounds now and and is still on target.

That being said, it still is a low end scope, the 9x Magnification isnt near as crisp or as focused as my Leupold is, or even my Nikon Pro Staff for that matter.

The IR reticle is nice, however mine is too dark to use in low light conditions, therefore it is rendered almost useless.

Features on this are nice and on a highend would cost you this scope many times over. Personally, I would rather put that money towards a nice low cost Redfield or Burris scope. Not that expensive but great quality.

I have found scopes you get what you pay for. (LIFE ADVICE: this is true with underwear, tires, shoes, and brakes) Sometimes you get lucky and find a bargain, but not usually.

This is a great scope for an airsoft rifle or .22LR others have had success with some other rifle cartridges. I guess it could be some are good some are bad, but if I'm putting...

I bought this for my Tiberius T9.1 paintball marker (overkill). I would put this on my .223 or my 30.06, excellent scope for the money.
Pros: Easy to install / zero, very clear magnification, awesome eye relief, compact

Fix it yourself

by Legacy Reviewer, Verified Owner from United States, LA Written on December 20, 2010
The product works great now. When i recieved it the unit's green illumination did not work due to a loose connection in the switch area. I needed for that week so I didnt have time to retun it. I fixed it myself, and it work just fine now....

Barska Contour 3-9x42 IR Compact Riflescopes w/ 30/30 Illuminated Dual Color Reticle - AC10552 Rifle scope

by Legacy Reviewer, Verified Owner from United States, IL Written on November 17, 2010
Bought this scope for my Romanian AK 47 for coyote hunting in IL this winter. Mounted it on a UTG side mount #978 scope mount made for the AK 47. First reaction was WOW this really looks cool. Mounting took less than 5 minutes. Zeroed in at 50 yards to get close then moved to 100 yards. Within 20 rounds was holding 1 1/2 inch group. Takes the shock of the AK 47 and stays right on. I did locktite the mounts as should be done in any case. Best part of this whole thing was I ordered this scope on Tuesday morning and less than 36 hours later UPS delivered it ans shipping was free. AWESOME. And again I say WOW cool looking setup.
Pros: Compact easy mount...

Barska Contour Scope

by Legacy Reviewer, Verified Owner Written on April 19, 2010
After much research I bought the barksa contour 3x9 dual illumination. The scope will not hold zero at all and is blurry and states 3x9 but 9 power is actually about 4 compared to the truth. So after spending $75 your options are to send to barska with ANOTHER $25 plus shipping or put in trash and save that $30 which is what I will do. This scope is not worth it for free as will just waste ammo learning. Not sure how a company can even put something this sorry on the market. Last Barska I will ever buy. Spread the word.
Pros: none
Cons: wont zero, blurry, magnification is untrue...

Not Bad, Not Good

by Legacy Reviewer, from United States, WA Written on March 22, 2010
For a cheap scope to shoot large targets, its OK, but at 200 yards you can barrely even see a 3 inch bullseye due to the lack of focus. Nice high mounts for use on an AR
Pros: Illum Reticle, compact, holds zero
Cons: Lousy instructions for BDC, can't focus well...
