I used a Dremel tool to grind away a small part of the plastic battery housing, and snip a small piece off the metal battery clip. With these mods, the problem was solved.

The cross member will not fit in the first rail notch without interfering with the trigger guard on my HK-45. Recoil slides the unit off the rail after a couple rounds. Cons:  the rail attachment doesnt open wide enough for M&P 9 Full-size

crossbar does not fit rail notch in my firearm, Smith and Wesson SD40VE. Had to remove it to attach unit to rail. Very difficult to remove. After removal, unit falls off rail after 4-5 rounds. Will try and tighten to extreme to see if it helps. May work fine on other pistols, but hasn't worked well on mine.
