Pros: Good in theory but technology not there yet
Cons: Barska Rep stated finger prints were to fine for the optical recongition to read
Would recommend: no

The Barska did work fine for me. I am Male in my mid forties and the unit installed and worked for me just fine. I was able to set the unit up and installed it without problems. The problem came when it came to set up my wife's finger prints and we were not able to get her finger prints to recognize. Called the Barska Rep and I was told that those with fine finger prints will not be able to have their finger prints read by the optical recognition. A safe that my wife can't access is useless to me. Especially if we are ever in a situation where she needs to access to the safe when I am unable to do so. Opticsplanet had me ship the unit directly back to Barska at their expense and the UPS driver even came to my house to pick up, happy about that. Still waiting on my refund at this point but it has only been ten days. Just make sure that you test the unit thoroughly with the thirty day time frame for returns.

Pros: Inexpensive, quick to open
Cons: Size, loud beep when opening

A good, basic, quick access safe. Fingerprint scanner works well. What you see is what you get. Not bomb proof, but keeps weapons out of general reach. I wish it had a few more inches of depth for ARs. Theyll fit sideways, but then you cant put much else in there. It also produces a very loud beep during scanner operation. Really loud. I don't want the whole house alerted every time the safe is opened, so I solved the problem by taking apart the scanner and altering the speaker. Now it is perfect. Just barely loud enough to hear when standing right in front of it. I suppose I voided any possible warranty of course, but oh well.

Pros: Inexpensive, Quick access
Cons: Too small for ARs or long rifles, Thin metal.
Would recommend: yes

This safe is exactly what you expect for the money. It is too small for ARs, scoped rifles, long rifles or shotguns or probably shotguns with pistol grip stocks. It will not stop a motivated thief with a can opener as the steel is slightly thicker than a filing cabinet. But it is pretty cool -- the fingerprint opening seams to work well. You can turn the beeps off -- the previous reviewer must not have read the instructions. The primary use for this safe would be keeping your home defense close at hand and quickly accessible while out of reach of the kids, provided they are shotguns with traditional grip and not optics.

Pros: Has the ability to take many prints.
Cons: Loud beep
Would recommend: yes

Definately a nice little safe. Maybe too small though. Not deep enough to keep mags on the actual rifles. Biggest concern is the loud beeps that it uses to signal if your print is accepted or denied. If im going to it in the middle of the night the last thing i want is letting my entire house know im up and moving around.

Pros: Very Secure
Cons: Sometimes Takes Two Tries To Open
Would recommend: yes

I bought the biometric safe because I want to keep my kids away from my shotgun. I didn't want to have a key that they could find or I would need to find in a hurry. I didn't want to have to remember a combination. The lock usually opens within three seconds on the first scan, but occassionaly takes two tries to open, which is not a problem for me.

Works great with mounting hardware, I have it mounted to the wall and the keyless access is a nice feature. Holds both my rifles and handguns with some room to spare. It's a great buy especially for the value.

Pros: Simple design; can hold multiple fingerprints; key and battery back-ups.
Cons: Loose in the locking mechansim, but it's not a $3,000 safe after all.
Would recommend: yes

Got this to protect my rifles and pistols. I only have 2 of each, so I don't need much storage room. This safe is compact enough that it doesn't get in the way, and it'll hold at least 4 rifles (if they're all kitted out) or up to 6 if there's no bells/whistles on 'em... 6 would be a tight fit, but you could do it. Entering prints is easy, and I'm going to have my parents load their prints in next time they come visit; that way if anything happens to me, someone I trust will have access to my valuables without being dependent on finding the right key! Pretty cool, in my opinion. The tolerances aren't super-snug on the locking mechanism/hinges, but it is a pretty inexpensive safe. Also, I'd like some way to turn off the volume on the lock mechanism (it beeps once when powered, then gives two when it gets a valid read). Looks like I got one of the last of these for now... Saw that they're not available until later next month. Worth waiting for, in my opinion.

Pros: biometric ease of use. Good door lock. solid door.
Cons: Can't store with scope or front grip. too short for 28" shotgun. Have to store gun with grip sideways without scope, and without foregrip.
Would recommend: yes

Not a heavy safe but well made, the door and locking system especially. I'd recommend securing it. Space inside is a bit cramped. Can't store my 28" barrell gun without removing or cutting shelf. Have to store gun with grip sideways.
