Serpa holster for a SW99

by Dave, from United States, MI Written on September 19, 2014
I like it, but it isn't really a holster for concealed carry. It sits away from your body too much. I like the retention though, and it will be used for carrying during the winter months.
I was able to communicate my thoughts on this holster in less words than the internees would like, so here is some filler.

I would buy another for my M&P Shield if they go on sale again. I'm sure it will hold that gun too since it's a holster and that's what holsters are supposed to do. It didn't have any additional upgrade options, like walk my dog, or do the dishes if that was what you were looking for in a holster. I hope this was enough fluff, after all, I said I'd buy another one already. It is hard to type this on a cell phone, in case you were wondering. Please, don't make me go back and change or add stuff. It's such a pain because I have fat thumbs....
Pros:
  • durable
  • Holds securely
Cons:
  • larger than expected
Best Used for:
  • Open carry
  • Holding a gun
  • wearing on a waist

excellent fit and comfortable, adjustment is easy and has a wide range of positions. May cause some wear to the bluing of the gun after time is the only drawback that I have found. Good product for the price. Holds the gun securely and releases it easily with the tab....

This is my second BlackHawk CQC Serpa holster and it checked out perfect at the range. I feel better having my Glocks locked in but ready to go. The Serpa is a quality holster and I will purchase more in the future. The Serpas are fairly priced....

Good holster

by Legacy Reviewer, from United States, VA Written on April 23, 2014
I tried to attach a duty belt set up that I had from one of my other serpa holsters and the screws included were not long enough and the screws from the other setup were bigger around so wouldn't work
Pros: well made, quick, multiple options for carry
Cons: different sized screws from my other serpa...

Exactly what I expected

by Legacy Reviewer, Verified Owner from United States, FL Written on April 10, 2014
For those concerned about shooting yourself when deploying your firearm, try keep see gun rules 1-4. This holster holds the firearm snug and there is no wiggle. Purchased for use with strike mount for chest rig and mounting to bedside. I just wish the plastic wasn't so thick and offset from the body.
Pros: durability , retention and interchangeable
Cons: width...

CQC Serpa

It originally came without the mounting screws, so that was a bummer, yet they rushed them to me within a couple of days that was a plus. Not a good concealment holster, but offers excellent features and retention like no other! Highly recommend!
Pros: Good retention
Cons: Not good for concealment....

Even takes the Glock 30 with Meprolight ML20224 sights

by Legacy Reviewer, from United States, GA Written on January 31, 2014
Was a bit concerned since my Glock 30 has the Meprolight ML20224 adjustable sights on it. This front site is considerable taller than the factory installed. Not to worry, this holster was built to accommodate such. Perfect fit in every regard.
Pros: Comfortable, and easy to draw
Cons: Can be a bear to take off, but I gues that's really a good thin....

Take your time to set up properly.

by Legacy Reviewer, from United States, WA Written on January 30, 2014
I bought this holster for my Sig P229, and it works perfectly. Blackhawk products in my experience are generally reliable and a good overall value. In the case of this holster, the manufacturer might assume too much about the customers knowledge, because the instructions for setting up the holster for paddle carry are unclear, and the small photographs on the blister card might be too easily misinterpreted. There is also an extra piece of plastic that is a square with a hook at one corner. Molded into the plastic square is the model number of the pistol the holster is supposed to fit. The square is made of the same material as the holster. A Google search revealed that the purpose of the plastic square is to retain the shape of the holster in its blister packaging; it can be discarded.
Taking the time to set up the holster properly will yield the reward of having what many believe to be a near perfect holster. There are those who claim Blackhawks SERPA holsters are dangerous, but almost any product can be dangerous if misused. Proper trigger discipline would have the shooter point his trigger finger straight to keep it outside of the trigger guard until hes ready to shoot. Gripping the holstered pistol with a straight index finger pressing the holsters release button will result in a proper, safe grip when the pistol is drawn from the holster. Curling the index finger to press the release button can result in its entering the trigger guard when the pistol is lifted...
