This pad is definitely an improvement over the standard issue kidney pad, but it could use some improvements. First, it could have thicker padding overall. Second, increased length would allow it to sit on your hips better. Third, the clasp area in the back doesn't quite span the width of the ALICE frame so there is some wiggle room. Finally, it's difficult to secure the pad very tightly with the buckle configuration that's provided.

This belt will update the comfort of your ALICE frame to that of a modern pack. If your load is more the 30lbs. The difference is staggering! It costs some bucks, but it's worth the price for the comfort. Use with enhanced straps your ALICE pack will be better then anything else you can buy with a frame.
