I bought this for a Ruger 10/22 target model. The Ruger came with what I think is a dual purpose weaver and 3/8 base rail. I already had some spare 1" Weaver mount rings that I knew would work. The helpful folks at Optics planet correctly informed me that the installed rings were easily removable. So I used my rings and the scope works very well. It was easy to zero and has good optics for an inexpensive scope with variable focal length. The reticle is fine for distances up to 100 yards or so... and I don't see the point in shooting a 22 at longer range. My weaver rings provide a more substantial mount than the stockers -- it would be nice if they sold a ring free model -- maybe they do and I missed it.
