Failed and No Warranty

by Legacy Reviewer, from United States, WA Written on February 25, 2014
After one week of shooting with a pellet gun the reflective lens inside the main tube came loose, rendering the sight useless. I contacted BSA to send the sight in under warranty and they informed me of a $10 fee associated with their "warranty."
Would not recommend any BSA products.
Pros: None
Cons: Failed after one week, No warranty...

Failed after one week

by Legacy Reviewer, from United States, WA Written on February 20, 2014
BSA RD30 failed after one week of light use. The tinted lens inside the main tube came loose and rolls freely inside. The sight is 100% unusable, so I contacted BSA to ship it in under warranty.

BSA's "warranty" requires that I ship them the sight AND PAY THEM $10.00 to repair/replace. That is not a warranty, that is a scam.
Pros: Looks like an electronic sight.
Cons: BSA does not stand behind their product....

BSA Red/Green Dot

by Legacy Reviewer, Verified Owner from United States, TX Written on August 11, 2013
I purchased this red/green dot optic as a low cost addition to my Ruger 10/22. I mounted very nicely and functions exactly as it should. Very simple to mount and use on either a dovetail or picatinny/weaver style rail.
Pros: Exceptional value
Cons: None...

Won't handle magnum handgun loads

by Legacy Reviewer, from United States, WA Written on February 26, 2013
After less than a dozen full power 357 Mag rounds the red dot disappeared. Now requires that the power dial be moved slightly to one side of the desired power mark and then returned to bring back the red dot. This has to be done with EACH shot . I purchased two of these red dot sights for use on two different 357 Mag revolvers and they both have the same problem. I also have this same red dot on my SKS and my Browning Buck Mark pistol and both of these are working fine. So it appears that this red dot sight just won't handle heavy recoiling firearms. So I would recommend this sight for low recoil firearms but not for moderate to heavy recoiling firearms.
Pros: Easy to set up and adjust to POA
Cons: Heavy recoiling firearms knock out the red dot....

Good for the money

by Legacy Reviewer, Verified Owner Written on February 8, 2013
It's a good value if you just want a red dot on top of your firearm. Don't expect the dot to stay still and be repeatable like you are accustom to on a eotech or similar. Totally different technology. ...

Mount a problem

by Legacy Reviewer, Written on October 8, 2012
The bolts to mount the 5/8" clamp on the Weaver base were minimal length causing one nut to strip before getting a solid grip on the bolt. BSA wanted $9.00 for a replacement set of bolts/nuts.
Pros: Good product for price
Cons: Mounting hardware bolts stripped easily and not long enough for easy mount on 10/22 Weaver base....

Great for my needs!

by Legacy Reviewer, Verified Owner from United States, AL Written on June 5, 2012
I didnt get this one for hunting I actually use them for telescopes as RDF. Metal RDF finders from major brands start from twice the price or more, and most of those are based on regular hunting/shooting red dots scopes. Opticsplanet has the cheapest price for this model I could find, plus there is a free bag :) Ive got 1 weaver riser to attach it to slim weaver plank Ive mounted on my telescopes, so I can move this from one to another. The lowest brightness setting is a little bit bright for astronomy use for some, but works OK for me. Nice solid item.
