Burris 10x42 full size Signature Select binoculars

by Legacy Reviewer, Verified Owner Written on October 14, 2009
These are as good a pair of binoculars for hunting as anybody needs and at a price that means you're not going to be paranoid about knocking them about - not that serious damage is actually likely given the great deal of thought that's gone into making them super rugged. Lenses are well protected each end by covers that can't be lost and the external rubber coating on the body is good ergonomically and for dampening noise from any clash with hard objects - like a rifle. These are glasses clearly built for hunters by hunters and that generates many big pluses over much more expensive products. The only cons are pretty minor: I find the central focus wheel has so little resistance that achieving optimal focus takes more fiddling than it should, and I need to check every time I put the glasses to my eyes that the barrels - adjustable for eye relief - have not moved. Sometimes they have. These issues detract slightly, but only slightly, from a product that by dint of the combination of optical quality, rugged construction, and light weight makes them an obvious front-runner for hunters who don't want to spend a ridiculous amount of money on binoculars but, at the same time, want very good quality. Overall, it would be very hard to justify spending more, for a little improvement in performance, when these do the job a hunter wants - admirably, and in a package specifically designed for the hunter/out-doorsman. If you want a bit better performance in low light then go for the 8x4...
