Very Nice Scope

by Chris, from United States, TX Written on August 29, 2014
Really like the function of the reticle site picture and how it lights up! Works well on 1 power with both eyes open. Eye relief is pretty fair between 1-4. Would be nice if the scope was actually shorter to take up less room on top of your rifle. I can possible see a few more of these in my future. Depending on pricing and application might lean towards an ACOG but I do not think you would be disappoint with the XTR!...
Pros:
  • Great Retical
  • Light Retical
Cons:
  • Scope seems a little long
Best Used for:
  • Active Shooting

Burris XTR

by Legacy Reviewer, Written on April 29, 2013
Some have commeted the illuminated reticle is not visable in daylight. While I would say it is clearly visable, it should not be considered a substitute for a traditional red dot. You can tell it is on, but against a very bright background the red is much more difficult to see.
Pros: Recticle is very clear...

Expensive but great product

by Legacy Reviewer, from United States, WA Written on February 15, 2013
I have mounted this optic and zeroed it in. I can hit a square foot metal plate 300 yards away all day with no problem. This system would be great for reflexive fire too.
Pros: Great clarity, nice reticle, and versitility with the 1-4x zoom
Cons: expensive, minimum light setting is still kinda bright...

Great Scope Great delivery

by Legacy Reviewer, Written on August 15, 2012
This scope was very easy to zero and mounted on the Burris P.E.P.E.R it remounts to zero every time on a rock solid foundation. This scope has true 1x capability and does a GREAT job as a precision red dot scope.. so the Burris fastfire2 went on my shot gun ( where it performs in great fashion). Bang for the buck this combo is hard to beat
Pros: Excellent clarity, double as red dot reflex
Cons: battery life...

Burris Xtreme Tactical Riflescope 1X-4X-24mm

by Legacy Reviewer, Written on August 14, 2011
I recently had the privilege of using the Burris Xtreme Tactical Riflescope 1X-4X-24mm Illum, on some Sambar Deer in the Australian high country (an area I have been hunting for well over 15 years). I would like to say that the performance of the Burris Xtreme exceeded my expectations in all areas of performance and value for money, and defiantly compares with the more common top end Riflescopes used here in Australia. I will defiantly be considering the Burris Xtreme Tactical Riflescope to replace my current model.

Pros: Value For Money

Can't be beat for the price.

by Legacy Reviewer, from United States, WA Written on July 2, 2011
This scope sits on my coyote rig (heavy bbl AR15) and has taken a serious beating in all kinds of weather. I've beaten it off trees while going through forests, fallen down on it, hung it up on branches, it's been in a freezing cold creek, it's even been bounced off pavement (accident, I was handing it to a friend and he didn't quite have it in his hand yet). It came with rings that are mega-stout aluminum jobs, but I used those for a budget precision-rifle build I did (and they're great), and mounted the XTR-14 in an LT-104. It has served me extremely well and I see no reason to change it out or "upgrade" from it. The glass is clear enough that one day from a prone position, I was able to shoot 5 shots of FGMM into a hole smaller than a quarter at 300 yards. At that range, the lower dot (in the break of the horseshoe), although barely visible, was small enough to block out the point of impact. But still, it happened. This is a great scope and i really would've paid more money for it. I think it was a great deal when I bought it as an "open-box buy" at $550 (with the Fastfire, which I mounted to an AK, which my cat knocked over and it immediately shattered. If you're using a FF2, get the armored shroud for it). Burris's customer service isn't "bad", but by comparison to some other manufacturers in the hobby, they leave a bit to be desired for sure. I could care less though, the way this thing is built, it'll never have to go back anyway. It's a little tank.

Great 1 - 4 power scope!

by Legacy Reviewer, from United States, WA Written on July 7, 2010
I looked at everything from the cheapest solution to the very expensive and this scope was all around the best option I found for an AR-15. I would like to have longer lasting battery life, but the illumination is not really neccessary for day use anyway. For dusk I would prefer that all of the tic marks of the BDC were lit instead of just the center section, but overall I REALLY like this scope for an AR or similar rifle. Use the Larue SPR-E mount and you will be pleased with the combination. Thanks Optics Planet, Burris, and Larue!
Pros: Very clear scope with good sharp illumination and BDC
Cons: All of BDC is not iluminated...

Burris XTR 1-4X

by Legacy Reviewer, Verified Owner from United States, UT Written on March 3, 2010
Clear optics and bullet drop compensation reticle, not a bad price considering competitors.

Illumination is too bright except on lowest setting, it can wash out the image in low light.
Pros: Clear optics, great reticle
Cons: whole eyepice rotates, illumination...

Good scope but has some flaws

by Legacy Reviewer, from United States, WA Written on January 29, 2010
This scope is a good buy for the price. It is a very clear optic. The ballistics on the reticle are accurate. Once it is properly adjusted on the gun it has a better target aquisition when on 1x than I was exspecting. The only downfall is that the illumination in certain light conditions can hardly be seen.
Pros: Good scope for the price
Cons: Illumination is not always great...
