Pistol spotting

by tcnmtn, from United States, TN Written on August 27, 2014
This scope is used for spotting pistol rounds at 25 yds and 50 yds. At 75x it is difficult to see 22lr rounds at 50 yds. But if you back off power to 50x or even less, the holes are perfectly clear. I am actually using it now at around 25x. It would be great if the scope mount was attached to a ring so the scope could be rotated in relation to the position of the eyepiece....

Burris XTS 25-75X70

It's crap, don't wast your money on the Burris XTS 25-75X70. I also bought a Burris tall tri-pod and it was junk to. Ending up selling the scope at a $50 loss to some sucker.

Not at extreme or tactical

by Legacy Reviewer, from United States, CA Written on October 8, 2012
The only thing xtreme about this product is my level of disappointment.

I was really excited to use this product for long distance range shooting and I spent 80% of my time trying to get this product to it's job. It's optical and mechanical engineering is Flea Market quality. The few negative reviews on optics planet are absolutely spot on. The positive review must be for some other product other than this one. I'll elaborate...

1. The Zoom Function
The zoom adjustment is the eye piece and it INCREDIBLY hard to turn. Not in a broken way, in a really tightly packed greased bearing kind of way. Quickly acquiring a target by zooming in is impossible. When you have the scope kinda in focus (I say kinda because it never is really in focus) and you slowly zoom from 25x-75x it falls out of focus. so you have to then refocus at 75x and you lose your target.

2. The Focus Knob:
Is amazingly bad. it will come close to being in focus but you'll be lucky if you get close. The focus only has has one adjustment and thats is COURSE. No finesse or fine tuning. You WILL over-travel while focusing and reversing direction sends it way out of focus. you have to do a rocking motion on the knob to get close. Which in the same manner that the zoom knob... it is pretty stiff. Referencing the point (1.) One above, once you start your zoom in....the focus dance you just did has to be done all over again.

3. Color
Very washed out. Not rich or deep. So if you have to discern between like ...

Burris XTS-2575 Cassegrain Spotting Scope

by Legacy Reviewer, Verified Owner from United States, VT Written on July 19, 2010
I bought it originally as a spotting scope for target shooting but it's way better than just that. It resolves a clear sharp image all the way out to its maximum range with little or no fogging. The zoom control is far too tight, it was so tight to begin with that the rubber grip ring broke loose and rotates freely. I have managed to loosen it up somewhat by getting a good solid death grip on the scope body and rotating the zoom from one extreme to the other repeatedly. That is my only complaint and I think it will sort itself out with time. The focus control is very smooth and, unlike some other reviews, I'm very happy with the mini-tripod that comes with it. Lets face it, for any magnification over about ten power you need a very solid mount to keep a perfectly stable image. This goes up to 75 power and even my heavy duty camera tripod couldn't keep the image perfectly steady.
Overall, I'm very happy with it and strongly recommend it.
Pros: Very good light gathering ability, very good optical performance, lightweight, and compact.
Cons: Zoom control is far too stiff....

Basically what I had expected but was disappointed in the lack of a sun shade and the quality of the tripod. The unit worked fine out of the box. Optics were clear and adjustment knobs were smooth.
Pros: seems to be sturdy and compact

Poor customer service from Burris

by Legacy Reviewer, from United States, WA Written on June 16, 2010
In short I have bought Burris products for 25 years. I recently bought a spotter from them. It was junk when it arrived, would not focus properly. Then would not work at all.

I sent it to them as Instructed. Asked for some help. CSR was not comfortable with making a decision so he referred to his supervisor. He assured me that all would be taken care of to my satisfaction. I explained to him that I was in a bad spot because I needed it for the State Championship which is now this weekend. Was three weeks out when this started.

Then he disappeared from the face of the earth. I was trying to make a decision and just wanted some information. It was like I didn't exist. I spent $300 on a new scope(different brand-I wasn't born yesterday) as I had to have it for the tournament.

Finally get a reply today. Scope will be here tomorrow. Spend your money wisely, obviously I did not.
Pros: Had a nice looking cardboard box
Cons: Was junk as delivered...

I bought a c65 celstron and did not like it to view shots at 500yards. I then bought this oneand it is great. you can not beat this for the money. Clear shots out to 500yrds. have not tried further.
Pros: small, clear

Rugged, compact, okay value

by Legacy Reviewer, Verified Owner from United States, CA Written on March 1, 2010
Based on the other reviews, I was expecting better optical quality. The image is somewhat dim. It was doable, but I had a little trouble finding .223 holes on the black section of the target paper at 100 yards. And as others have said, the focus is a little too sensitive.

That said, I still think it's a good scope for the cost, and I don't regret my purchase. Just don't expect it to compete with higher end scopes in terms of optical quality.

Pros: Compact size and rugged design
Cons: Optical quality...

Not as good as advertised

by Legacy Reviewer, from United States, NY Written on January 14, 2010
I purchased this scope brand new with great excitment in my new purchase. I opened it and tried to focus it for it's first use, I couldn't. I found myself sending it back the next morning at my own cost for replacement. Not happy at all with the product, although i'am sure that they will make it right. It seems it's a part of today's market. I' am Not happy it's made in China either.
Pros: Beautiful lense, size & weight
Cons: Unable to use...
