My name is Reg and I own a farm in Australia. I had the first Eliminator 3 in Australia which is mounted on my Ruger M77VT 6.5mm Creedmoor which I use in a farming situation for long range pest destruction. Problems I encountered: 1. After about 300 sightings the scope refused to work and would only come up "error" when the ranging button was pressed. The battery indicator said that the battery was full. I changed the battery and the scope is operating correctly again. 2. More seriously I find that the scope is next to useless during late afternoon or early morning (when most pest shooting is done) because it is extremely difficult to get a clear sight picture when the ambient light is low to the horizon. All scopes have issues when looking into light coming from a low angle to the horizon but my Eliminator 3 is almost impossible. I have to arrange my eye position in an exact position with no room for error to get even a marginal sight picture. Even 0.5mm off the optimal position for my eye results in a total "whiteout" of the sight picture. Looking into the sun within about 20Deg is impossible regardless of the eye position. Looking away from the source of the light is half reasonable but still fiddly to get a good quick picture. I have a Leupold VX-3L on my .243 and I have no issues with getting a good sight picture under the same conditions. My scope is fitted with the screw in sunshade supplied with the scope. The scope is ok at other times of the day when the sun is higher. Is this a problem just with my scope or with all the Eliminator 3 scopes?? On the positive side I have found the ranging system to be terrific. The ballistic table for my Creedmoor is spot on and I can easily get 200mm groups on the bullseye at 700M just off a bipod on a quad bike. The ballistic setup is also good at intermediate ranges. The acquisition of a good ranging is both fast and accurate. Terrific system if only I could get a decent sight picture during the late afternoon.
