BURRIS AR-536

by Legacy Reviewer, Written on February 11, 2014
I GOT THE AR-536 BECOUSE I COULDNT AFFORD THE ACOG THAT I WANTED BUT IF I KNEW IT WAS MADE IN CHINA I WOULD HAVE SAVED MY MONEY. THE EYE RELIFE SUX. BAD FOV.THE RED AND GREEN OPTICS MAKES IT HARD TO SEE THE BDC DOTS BECOUSE OF THE GLARE. I HAVEN HAD A CHANCE TO TAKE IT TO THE RANGE BUT IM SHURE I WILL SELL IT FOR CHEAP AND GO WITH THE ACOG AND A RMR REFLEX SITE. YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR.PS- PAY ATTENTION I HAVE FOUND THAT BUCK KNIFES AND ALOT OF OTHER HUNTING STUFF I GREW UP WITH IS SELLING OUT TO CHINA.SO MANY PEOPLE NEED JOBS IN THIS COUNTRY AND OUR FAVORITE COMPANYS ARE SELLING OUT TO THE BIGEST COMUNIST COUNTRY IN THE WORLD. I THINK CHINA OWNS MORE OF THE USA THAN WE DO..
Pros: CAN USE WITHOUT BATTERY
Cons: NOT SURE YET...

Burris AR-536

Perfect optic!
Pros: Well let me start things off by saying that I am a Police Officer so I am familiar with ARs and optics for them. I just sold my ACOG TA11 and purchased this Burris and all I can say is wow! I liked the ACOG by did not love it. This Burris is an absolute gem. Not only is the reticle crystal clear and the glass excellent, the 5 color settings for each green/red are excellent. The higher settings were perfect for sunny days while the lower settings are great for night or low light conditions. I don't think you could find a better optic for the money. Well done Burris.
Cons: I don't have any cons, I will say however, that a 5X magnification is not meant for close quarter combat, I knew that before purchasing the optic so it's a non-issue. If you want a close quarter optic, mount a reflex on the scope, best of both worlds....

Functioned as expected. Very good value for the money. Put 170 rounds through my AR15 with no problems. During the bright daylight the black recital worked best.
Pros: Value
Cons: Wished it had variable power....

Was crooked in mountfustrating but an easy fix. Eye relief is not great. Made in china . The good is its built like a tank everything feels well made. I've looked and you have to spend twice as much to get the next best sight.
Pros: Looks well made
Cons: Eye relief poor...

Disappointed

by Legacy Reviewer, Verified Owner from United States, WA Written on December 6, 2012
I am an avid shooter. 10yrs as a Corrections Deputy with the local Sheriffs Dept; Gunsmithing and shooting are two of my primary hobbies. I grew up in WY with an avid hunter/shooter as a father who started us very young.

I first mounted this AR536 on a FAL rifle, but was unable to get a full field of view due to the eye relief unless I held the rifle improperly against my shoulder in order to get my eye closer to the optic. This completely destroyed my stance and natural point of aim.

I then mounted it on an AR, but was unable to get a full field of view (FOV) until I removed the Magpul flip-up rear sight from the flat top so I could get the AR536 mounted back far enough. Even then, I could not get proper FOV without collapsing the stock at least half way or more to get my eye close enough.

On both the FAL and the AR, I could not get a full FOV unless my eye was off-center from behind the optic slightly. If I centered my eye behind the optic, there was a half-moon of black on the right side of the FOV. This made positioning the rifle even more awkward, again, further destroying my positioning and natural point of aim, making the rifle feel awkward in my hand and not allowing muscle memory to maintain proper accuracy.

I realize this optic is under $500, so it is inappropriate to compare it to a Leupold or Trijicon. But it is not anywhere near worth the $400 price tag that is on it. My $250 Millett DMS doesn't require that I destroy my natural point of aim...

Burris AR-536

by Legacy Reviewer, Verified Owner from United States, IN Written on October 31, 2012
Good optic but know it sits a bit high above the bore. It also forced me to remove my flip-up rear sight to obtain proper eye relief. If I put the flip-up back on it will have to go forward of the Burris. An optic like this should come with a quick-detach lever. This Burris replaced an aging Eotech on my patrol rifle.
Pros: clarity, reticle
Cons: price, sits a bit high...

Burris AR-536 5X Sight

by Legacy Reviewer, Verified Owner from United States, AR Written on August 13, 2012
Overall I think it is a great optic and it has been priced well. It is very durable and not cheaply made. I have used ACOG's and Aimpoints before in IRAQ and wished I had this sight because of the ease to use and bullet drops and different yard lines. I would recommend this to anyone with an AR for close combat and recreational shooter.
Pros: I think this is an amazing sight and its priced reasonably. Very easy to use and set up. Does come with a small sunshade and lens cleaning cloth. Would recommend this to anyone.
Cons: reticle seems smaller than i pictured....
