The FastFire II looks good on the box and is an interesting concept that is a big problem getting mounted and zeroed. I am an engineer that has been shooting and hunting since I was 5. I was an expert marksman as a Marine. Burris's description of the FastFire caught my attention because I like new technology and am always looking for sights or optics that will make me an even better shot. FastFire III has been disappointing. The first problem was on my Mossberg 930 because there is not Speedbead mount. So after contacting Burris customer service with no help there, I mounted it with Picatinny mounting system. After falling off multiple times shooting Skeet and being embarrassed with other shooter I not only torque all the fasteners I used Loctite blue on all fastener including the Picatinny mount. I then went to the range and shot 25 rounds of slugs to get FastFire III zeroed such that I could kit small targets at 100 yd. I then shot 25 rounds of shot through for pattern to make certain it was good at 25 yd and even more important that the FastFire III didn't fall off. If I go back to shoot Skeet and Trap and it falls off again I am going to give up. Not, to be discouraged I purchased a FastFire III with mount for my Springfield XD(M) competition model. The mount was not for my XD(M) it seems it is only for the SXD but it was missing the dovetail mount just the same. So, I decided to use Weld Epoxy to glue it on to the factory mounts to try the red dot on my pistol. Note, I did not want to permanently modify my XD(M) because I like the factor sights but wanted to try out the FastFire III on a pistol. After using the Crimson Trace LaserGuard Green that worked as advertised out of the box to make the initial alignment of the Red Dot, I went to the range to try it out. I fire the first round. After wiping the blood off of my forehead from the FastFire III hitting me on the forehead just above my right eye, I picked it up and put it in the gun case. That is it for FastFire on any pistol I am shooting. I have never had anything like that happen in the 54 years I have been shooting. FastFire May work great once you get it mounted but mounting is a huge problem. I dont plan to purchase any more Burris products because I cannot believe their product information.
