Use of thread locker (Loctite) is strongly recommended as you risk stripping the mount screw if you rely on torque alone. The light sensor is perfectly calibrated. I've used the sight in dim lighting to outdoors under a bright sun and reticle brightness self-adjusted to where I would set it manually. I mounted my first Fastfire on a Ruger Mark III Hunter and together they perform like they were made for each other. I just bought a second Fastfire with an AR mount from Dvor for significantly less. I can't wait to mount it on my AR. You can't go wrong with this purchase.

I have 3 of thease things and they work very well 2 are on .45 and 1 on 9mm all mounted on the slides Two small problems you must remove unit from mount to change battery and the size of the dot is so large that i need to keep a peace of tape over sensor to make it think its night but other than that they work very nice

Thanks OpticsPlanet for setting me up with my new Fastfire II. I mounted this on my FNP-45 Tactical and it fit perfectly, and co-witnessed with my raised sights as I wanted. Once again, thanks for a good price and the fastest shipping.

I purchased this sight for use on a competition 1911. Assembly instructions were not great, but I did get it set up. It is very light and compact, quality seems excellent. My main issues is in actually using the sight. So far, when I point the pistol to aim I have to "search" for the dot. This may be an eye dominance issue on my part, but it can take me up to 5seconds to find the dot. I have used "tube" style sights like the Aimpoint in the past and did not have this issue. I will try to work around this, but may be better served using this sight on a rifle.

After installing the mount, the install for the sight was easy. It was nearly perfectly sighted in after I installed it and required very little adjustment. After using the iron sights on my Springfield XM for years, using the Burris was wonderful. Accuracy was way up, and getting on target was greatly enhanced. I would recommend this sight to any "Old Farts" who find iron sights a challenge to see.
