I've seen Bushnell refer to this as a shotgun scope and it will certainly serve well in that role. I mounted it on a Remington Model 5 22LR bolt action rifle. It's perfect in that application. Holds zero very well, weatherproof, and provides a very clear image. This is a better scope than one would expect in this price range. I own some high quality optics and know vey well the difference between good, poor and mediocre. Of course, some optics snobs will argue otherwise. To them I say: go ahead and spend several multiples of this scope's cost. The gain you'll see will be small compared to the increas in price.
