This is a good unit for the price you pay, optics are pretty good although there is some fisheye effects. The two different IR beams are nice and you can cut both of them off for those moonlit nights, you can make out cows in a pasture at probably 300+ yards on a 3/4 moon night, you can see a lot more, especially at distance than you can with the naked eye. The bads if you want to call them that would be, the battery door is a little quirky, with the flood lamp on your hand gets in the way of the beam when trying to focus. Minimum focus in reality is about 10-12 feet. That's about all the bad points there are. Just be sure to get the diopter adjusted to your eye before you judge the unit. Optics Planet delivered on time like they said, they sent a tracking number and shipping was free, sure I'd love to have a Gen 3, but you aren't going to get that for this price, overall quite happy with this purchase.
Pros: AA batteries, Fair price, Nice appearance
Cons: Gen 1, Made in China
