At <$125, this is worthwhile

With this compact, inexpensive device, I was able to see the foxes and coons that like to hang around my yard at night. The focus is rather hazy, and the field of vision gets washed out when near a streetlight, and the green-and-grey image takes a bit of interpretation to see. Overall this is a cool device for the money. It's also durable and well made. I think this is the right price point for this class of night vision devices.

This monocular is about as good as Generation 1 night vision can get. Like all Gen 1 NV, it has the fishbowl effect around the edges, but the center was sharper than most comparible units I have used. The Light sensitivity is great, enabling you to see clearly in all but the darkest conditions. Fire up the IR spotlight and you're in business in zero light. The spotlight can be a little bright in close quarters, though. I was disappointed that you can see the IR spotlight with the naked eye if you look at the unit. This model is not a stealth unit, but it works extremely well. This is one of few Gen 1 units that you can turn the IR illuminator completely off and run passively. Most other units have a small IR light that can not be turned off. Overall, an excellent buy.

We got this little night vision monocular basically just for fun on our camping trips, and it is really incredible! We're so happy with the purchase! It was such a bargain too! We love using it at night at campsite-- it's so cool to look up and see raccoons in the trees, thinking you can't see them. Tons of fun, great image quality, and the night vision is awesome. I would especially recommend this product for kids. They think it's so great and it really makes them want to spend time outdoors instead of playing video games!

I was disappointed with the image quality and the small size of the image. Think soda-bottle. I also had some difficulties getting it to focus as it requires a combination of turning the lense and turning the focus knob. It's definately small and compact but I was not impressed over all and would not recommend it. I am sending it back and exchanging it for a slightly more expensive model. Also after looking around the web site some, for a few dollars more, you can get one that's bound to be at least as good with more features.
