This Night Vision is compact and easy to use. The innovative approach is the function of the video output .The surface material is the industrial-strength rubber coating but dust and dirt get stuck on it.

I wanted basic night vision to see what was harassing my dogs in the middle of the night. This is exactly what I needed. Distance was about 50 yards and I saw exactly what it was. Color in these units is kind of pointless in pitch black, but overall I enjoy the unit.

The monocular performed as I expected with good clarity of both close in and distant objects. The actual range to distinguish objects was 40 feet with objective clarity at 30 feet. Great item for the money
not a good value in NV

Cons: illuminator to weak for magnification, no starlight capability, small field of view, visible IR
Would recommend: no

Ordered 3 NV devices; this one, Bushnell 2x24, Yukon Ranger 5X. Kept other Bushnell. Neither digital had a real starlight capability, requiring constant illuminator use. Illuminator too weak to take advantage of 3X. FOV too small for surveillance.

Very limited visability. Would not focus properly. Sometime would get a full color screan, but most of the time a very round black and white image in a small circle.
Good for the price

Pros: Decent price, good optics
Cons: You really need a zoom
Would recommend: yes

Good for a first-time IR user. Good video output and focus. IR illumination is in the center of the field. I use the lowest power level, and you can still see plenty. At full power, close objects are washed out. It would benefit from a zoom ability, but OK for my purposes. Slight chromatic aberration, but I expect that is natural with the difference in wavelengths between visible and IR light. You may want a stand alone IR light source for better illumination.
