Best for the Price

by Bob, from United States, NY Written on October 13, 2014
If you own a lot of guns and have a lot of scopes, then this boresighter is for you. The three expandable arbors hold better than the 10 - 15 arbors supplied with other bore sighters of this type and tend to twist and not hold the sight upright. The expandable ones will fit more firmly in the bore. Having added the .17 caliber fixed arbor is a plus for those of us that have .17 wildcats or .17 rim fire rifles.

Compared to the Laser sighters, this one is not as accurate, but then again they require one for every caliber and come out much more expensive. This one, will get you on paper fast and inexpensively and allow you then to fine tune and will be ready for that next rifle and scope you buy regardless of the caliber.

This is a tried and true design, that with the exception of the now iuncluded .17 caliber arbor hasn't changed since I bought my first one in the 70s, which I should never have sold....

Fantastic Product, easy to use, very versatile.

by David Sinanan, from Canada, NS Written on September 30, 2014
Work in the Army, have used other bore sighting tools.

This was my first PERSONAL bore sight. I absolutely love it.

It's super easy to use. You 'could' read the instructions, but they are so not needed.

The Bushnell Bore Sight works intuitively, and this kit comes with a fixed .177 (not advertised), and 3 adjustable arbors that cover from .22lr to .45 cal.

For most people...that should be more than enough to site in everything.

If you really need, you can get the 12ga/.50 cal arbor aditionally...and if with that addition to this you can't sight everything you want in...I'd venture it's user error.

The grid in the optic is very clean, and it'll most certainly get you on paper if you do your part.

I've sighted in 3 so far...all super easy and quick.

Thanks for an awesome product....
Pros:
  • easy to use.
  • Was on sale.
  • Good optical clarity.
Cons:
  • None so far.
Best Used for:
  • Use is clearly described.

Gets you on the paper

by Jim, from United States, NJ Written on September 22, 2014
This boresighter had some of the best reviews. It works as stated. I'm happy with it so far.The arbors hold in place and make it an easy tool to use.I wish there was a built in level, but if the gun and scope are level there is no need.Saves on ammo for sighting in....
Pros:
  • Good quality.
  • easy to use.
Cons:
  • case could hold arbors better
Best Used for:
  • saving on ammo

Not for AR15

by Legacy Reviewer, Verified Owner Written on April 7, 2012
I was hoping this would work on my Stag 7 Hunter. I bought a riser block to get it up where I could see it through my Eotech HWS, but the Adjustment screw on the stud interfered with the riser block. I then bought a .270 stud from Bushnell, but it is too loose in my 6.8mm
barrel. If I could only find a 6.8mm stud, I would be home free. I like the boresighter, It is well made, but until I can find A 6.8mm stud, I can't use it.
Pros: Very well made product
Cons: Needs a riser block to work on AR/M4 platforms...

Useful

by Legacy Reviewer, Verified Owner Written on February 10, 2012
thanks to this boresighter I am able to get close to zero and save some dollars on ammunition (especially useful for large caliber rifles) However, the last adjustments need to be done at the range.
Pros: great for bolt action rifles
Cons: you still have to go to the range to zero perfectly...

Good product for the money

by Legacy Reviewer, Verified Owner Written on November 26, 2010
Works good. Took longer than I thought to sight in my first rifle but once you get the hang of it you will be able to "rough" sight in all your rifles within minutes. Once you adjust your scope to be sighted in on the target make sure you put this product back on your rifle and make note of where your crosshairs are incase you ever need to sight in at a later date. ***Note the height of your scope will change where your zero spot is on this product!!!
Pros: Easy setup
Cons: Adjusting for the height of your scope...

Easy to Use

by Legacy Reviewer, Verified Owner Written on November 9, 2010
I just finished sighting in three different rifles with this product. Each rifle has a different scope and mounting system. Found that this product allowed me to sight in my 223 that has a raised scope(about an inch) with two shots. My other rifles have scopes flush with the barrel and these took alot more fine tuning. Make sure you recheck your scope with this product after you zero in on your target and WRITE DOWN where you are on the grid.
Pros: easy setup and use, works on multi caliber
Cons: Needs more adjustment depending on scope mount...

Puts you on the paper, but not on the bullseye

by Legacy Reviewer, Verified Owner from United States, FL Written on September 14, 2010
This is a well made Japanese product with a nice case and easy to use arbors. However, it is good enough to get you on the "paper", but not accurate enough to get you a bullseye. I used it first on a .22 rifle, then on a .223. Both had Leopold scopes previously purchased from OpticsPlanet and previously sighted in. The Bushnell bore sighter recommended changes, which I made. However, now the rounds were well grouped, but off center. I recommended this bore sighter for rifles that have not been set-up previously, However, I would not take it on a trip to re-sight in a rifle that may have been shaken in transit. It is better to sight the rifle in properly at home, then write down the settings and get a proper hard case. If you use this tool on a trip, your bullet center will change from what you expected.

I got the usual excellent service from Optics Planet.
Pros: Easy to use, versatile, simple
Cons: Not accurate enough to take on a trip...
