Pros:  does cover lens .
Cons:  Doesn't have a easy flip open button like the eye piece. as the scope is adjusted it is difficult to open

They stay closed when walking through the field to protect my scope, but they can be opened in a flash. It takes minimal force to open the caps and not much noise is made. Great product!!! Butler Creek is a great company.
