shipped without mounting clamp

by Legacy Reviewer, Verified Owner from United States, KS Written on February 2, 2014
Customer service couldn't just send me the missing piece. Want me to send the whole package back. And then they will send a new one. They mess up every other order these days. Customer service is hit and miss.
Pros: not sure
Cons: customer service was not easy to work with. shipped without mounting clamps. they sell spares and couldn't just ship one out. this is the third problem in 3 months. Optics Planet seems screw up every other order i place. they used to be way better. whats going on? to screw up ...

Best brass catcher on the market

by Legacy Reviewer, from United States, GA Written on January 8, 2014
I've used the velcro style brass catcher for a while. It did the job but did not stay in place real well and was cumbersome to remove when changing uppers, clearing a jam or breaking down the rifle. They also missed catching about 20% of the brass. This model brass catcher attaches with a mount that is quickly and easily attached to the rail. The mount is attached at a location on the rail so that the mouth of the catcher is perfectly and securely placed right at the ejection port. The catcher then very easily slides on and off the rail mount and never strays from the ejection port. Only occasionally misses a case. And that is usually because the catcher is not pushed all the way onto the mount. The only possible downside is that you may have to move an optics mount to place the catcher mount at the perfect position. I now have two velcro catchers that have been permanently retired. Caldwell says they will be offering the mounts by themselves to allow quickly moving one catcher from one rifle to another. They are supposed to be available through Amazon and other sites by some time in January,2014. This catcher is WELL worth the extra $.
Pros: Easy to mount; Easy and fast removal and replacement; very sturdy; catches all the brass.
