Very Good Value

by Legacy Reviewer, Verified Owner from United States, TX Written on July 18, 2013
Plan to use it mainly and often for squirrel hunting, and once a year for Texas deer season. If I was after big game all year, I'd have to buy a much better gun rest. This one is not smooth on pan or tilt. It will NOT hold site-in no matter how much you tighten holding screws, or try to balance the rifle. Always drops a quarter to half-inch. The work around is to site high, or simply hold as steady as you can while making the shot like you would with a mono or bipod. The rifle rest holders allow the gun to rotate left or right so not snug enough especially on the rear rifle butt. Frame handles the 22 rifle recoil, but the .270 is good for one shot, then re-acquire target due to instability of stand. It's a light-weight device, but as I said it's adequate for squirrel, rabbit, small varmit hunting, and I'd tell friends to buy it for that reason.
Pros: Inexpensive, Adequate For My Needs
Cons: Won't hold Site-in, Not Smooth Tilt or Pan...

Caldwell Camo Field Pod Shooting Rest

by Legacy Reviewer, Written on April 27, 2013
i was looking for a reasonably solid rest but light enough for actually using in the field. I plan to use it for long shots and sighting in rifles from a 17 HMR to a 257 Weatherby Magnum. After setting it up in the house and adjusting it for the lighter rifles, I feel certain it will cover my varmint hunting needs. I use a tripod camping chair with a small back and have been shooting from bipod shooting sticks. Stability is far better with this unit and recoil not an issue with the rimfires. I choose the camo because I will use it for varmints and it was worth the small premium.
Pros: Light and Small to Carry, Very Adjustable for Shooting Position and Rifle Length...

Nice rest

by Legacy Reviewer, Verified Owner Written on February 2, 2013
Purchased the FieldPod Rest for predator hunting, it takes a little getting used to when setting up on uneven or sloped terrain, very portable, I like the way it folds down and with the sling it transports nicely. Setup is easy after you practice a time or two. The up/down and left/right swivel feature makes it easy to adjust to most every shooting situation.
Pros: Provides stable rest
Cons: A little tough to use on uneven ground...

great idea but.....

by Legacy Reviewer, from United States, WA Written on January 22, 2013
Nice design but not tall enough when using from a chair or equal height.
Pros: Great idea for certain situations.
Cons: But not all situations. It needs to be about 12 inches taller. I could not use it as a portable shooting rest from a chair. It is just too short...
