I recently purchased the Cladwell Es-85 Electronic Hearing Protection model #162697 to replace an old set I had made by another company that died on me one day at the range. After looking at various other models in the StL area I chose this one. I had the opportunity to tru on a fellow shooters set at a local range. We were shooting .45's & .308's and the sound levels were greatly reduced by these. I was truly impressed.
I went home that afternoon and ordered a set from OpticsPlanet.com. Glad I did, because once they arrived I put them straight to use. They certainly do what they say they will do. Reduce the noise level! Yes, there are more expensive models out there, but when you can get something that works this well and at this price you would be foolish to throw your money away on the higher priced models. Beside the money you save buying these can buy you more ammunition!
Heres the BAD: The battery life can be short if you use them all day; The sound the unit picks up from the wind can be annoying at high volume levels - just turn it down; The initial fit is tight, but it quickly goes away after you wear them. I have some Peltors that are still tight and they are a couple of years old!
Heres the GOOD: They work well for what they are designed to do which is, "Keep the load noises out of my ears!"
Again I say, "Purchase a set of Caldwell Es-85 Electronic Hearing Protetion model #162697 and you will be quite happy with them!"
Pros: Does The JOB!
Cons: A bit ...
