Best Electronic Headsets for the Money

by Doc, from United States, AZ Written on November 8, 2014
Excellent "bang" attenuation (even for 30.06 and .308) without adversely affecting normal-decibel hearing acuity. Very good fit. Best electronic muffs for the price I have ever owned. Very highly recommend....
Pros:
  • Bang attenuation
  • Excellent resolution and discrimination.
Cons:
  • Headband breaks easily at intersection with wire muff attachments.
Best Used for:
  • Rifle & handgun shooting
Would recommend: Yes

The BEST earmuffs and outlast all others

by Josh, from United States, OH Written on October 17, 2014
I spend a lot of time at an indoor range as a certified instructor. I have had a pair of G3 Platinum earmuffs for the last four or five years and I can tell you that NOTHING beats these earmuffs. They have outlasted and out preformed all other brands I have seen. The batteries also last a long time. I am buying another pair only because I am having a hard time finding replacement pads for the set I now have, I'll eventually find something, then I'll have two pair....

Caldwell Platinum G3

by Legacy Reviewer, Verified Owner Written on October 3, 2011
When tested with .22 rifle, didn't notice much clipping. With .22 LR revolver, clipping was noticable. With .270, the initial sound was a solid "whump", not the shart retort normal. Then, the sound of the shot rolling off was normal. All of these when turned up to high. Wind sounds in trees sounded like a gale at high when hardly noticable without. All forest sound magnified. On the range, you hear everything except the loud gun retorts.
Pros: Does exactly what is claimed
Cons: None I can see...
Would recommend: Yes

Much better and more reliabe (so far) than the similar Radians I have. Used for both handgun and shotgun applications. No interference with stock when shotgunning.
Pros: individual volume controls, power on light
Cons: replacing batteries is awkward but not difficult...
