Pros: Easy setup, made with good materials
Cons: Horzontal adjustment isn't that great
Would recommend: yes

The first thing I did once I opened the box of the Caldwell Rock BR shooting rest was oil all the threaded areas that get used for adjustments before I tried it because they were all dry. I also oiled the bearings for the large diameter rotating wheel as well. The rest is made with good materials and has nice adjustments for elevation. One thing I did notice was that it's sits pretty high and I had to add an inch thick board under the Caldwell Deluxe universal rear shooting bag (P/N 226645) to shoot a target that was near the ground at 25 yards. When your target is out farther then that, the rear shooting bag can be used by its self. One bad thing about this rest is the horizontal adjustment isn't that smooth. After trying the horizontal adjustment a few times, I found myself moving the rear of the gun for the horizontal adjustments which seemed to work just fine. Overall, I think it's a good product.

Pros: Nice and steady, heavy duty
Cons: poor service

I bought this a few months back from OP. Assembled it and found it was missing a part. I called the Manufacturer several times and just got a voice mail box. Finally left a message and they called me back a few weeks later and sent me the part within 4 days. I guess that was good but it was annoying that they would not answer their calls.. Also, I had the wobble issue that others talked about but using locktite on the bottom and re-tightening the screws helped this. Now it is rock solid and works well for most of my guns. I just wish I would have gotten the taller rear bag. Despite the issues I would say this is a good value for the money. Safe shooting!

Pros: Price, ease of setup
Cons: it does not adjust hright as smoothly as expected meaning added time to acquire target, needs a less abrasive forend bag, could make fine adjustments smoother
Would recommend: yes

Overall this is an excellent price for a benchrest front rest. It is less than half the cost of any of the custom rests and is certain;y adequate for sighting in when adjusting a new riflescope.

Great rest, a pleasure to use. However, one of the metal plates that secures the bag to the frame had the holes drilled in the wrong location; I had to relocate the hole in order to attach it. Not a big problem but it raises a concern about workmanship.

Pros: Solid stand with smooth, ball bearing elevation control
Cons: No sight level as depicted
Would recommend: yes
Greg wrote:
PRO: This stand is extremely sturdy and solid. Works well with both my .308 and .338, especially long distance shots with high magnification. Elevation wheel has ball bearings underneath that ease elevation changes, even with my 16lb .338 on it. CON: The picture on the page (and including the manufacturer's web site) depicts a bubble level for leveling the rest during set up. Do not know if this was a discontinued item, but it is no longer included on the rest.

Pros: adjustable for elevation and windage
Cons: bags are not leather, 3 lobe bag is not filled
Would recommend: yes
Franke wrote:
The 3 lobe bag should come filled, or least a package of silica sand should be included. It would also be nice if the bags were leather. That said, this is a great piece of equipment. I like that it is adjustable for both windage and elevation.
